The Value in Branding You Inc.
Whether you are new or been on BetterNetworker for sometime, you've probably heard about this phrase "You, Inc."
Some may have referred to it as your ability to promote you, while others are just beginning to understand what it really means.
A few weeks ago, while I was getting my daily dose of "good network marketing practices" I was visiting JasonBetter.com where our good friend Jason Better asked what we'd like to learn and share with the blog readers and viewers.
It dawned on me that this "You, Inc." philosophy has been thrown around quite a bit by the BetterNetworker community and our mentor Mike Dillard, and in today's world of uncertainty, people NEEDED to know what this was all about.
These are the times when leaders stand up while the average fades away.
Jason Better accepted the request, which I'm truly grateful for since now we can really drive home what this "branding" of your You, Inc. really meant.
Thanks Jason!!!

Now, as a network marketer, struggling or thriving in the home business industry what makes the difference for your business is YOU.
What Does YOU Consist Of???
There are so many different elements that makes up you, but more importantly how you integrate your YOU in your business is what matters.
Take image for example. Let's say that your physical image is of you wearing a professional suit or dress, depending on your preference. :)
Just from the physical perspective, what can you assume about this person?
You'd probably guess this certain someone is very professional, successful, well educated, proper and radiates confidence. (Some may disagree, but for the sake of this exercise, stay with me.)
Now let's say you are the "prospect" who is attracted to this type of person. You decide to get in contact with them and schedule a quick 30 minute phone call with this person.
The day of the phone call, you're about a few minutes into the call, and you quickly determine this person is using vulgar language, is rough around the edges, and is extremely rude.
Do you think this person exemplifies their image?

If they are branding their image, assuming the given qualities above (successful, well educated, etc.) everything they do should be congruent with this. You see, the value in branding your "You, Inc." is about keeping true to whom you are.
It's all about selling or advertising you!
Take your business opportunity for example. No matter what people think, your prospects are not drawn to your business opportunity itself. They are drawn to the person running this business, YOU.
What is it they liked about you? Whatever it is, your leadership characteristics, your willingness to succeed and see others succeed, it doesn't matter. What matters is they were attracted to what YOU were offering.
Oh yeah, even bad qualities can draw in people as well, but perhaps not the right people you really want.
This is why branding is so important for a network marketer. If it is success minded distributors you are after, then you too should be putting out that vibe.
What does your "You, Inc." say about your business?
Does it show how you provide value to others? How you raise people up? How you bring definiteness to the table? How you positively change people's lives?
Note: One thing to keep in mind is that you can't please everyone, but what you can do is change the lives for those who want to be changed.
Who's life can you change by being true to your brand?

This totally rocks :-)
Hey Jerome,
I was surprised to see your article today.
Even more surprised to see you linking to the blog.
Especially like this:
"One thing to keep in mind is that you can't please everyone, but what you can do is change the lives for those who want to be changed."
Most people are afraid to have personality. Afraid to be themselves or offend people. I wish I could remember that Bill Cosby quote... about "you can't please everybody" That's what it reminds me of.
Words of wisdom from Grandma
Hey Jerome,
Great article!!
It reminds me of what my grandma always told me
Sing like no one is listening, dance like no one is watching and love like you have never been hurt.
It think to many people get it backwards when it comes to respect
They think confidence will come when others respect them, rather then respecting themselves first by being who they truly are.
This is one biggest issues I have with all of my mentoring clients. People have been so beaten down, they are afraid to life their head and wonder why they aren't having success
Thank you for your contribution,
Jeff Faldalen
Glad you liked it...

That is great Jeff...
Sounds like your Grandma knew what she was talking about. I love that phrase..."Sing like no one is listening, dance like no one is watching and love like you have never been hurt." That's inspirational for sure.
You know my take on this topic is that it's got to start somewhere, and if we can provide that guidance to our team members for assurance that anything is possible, the better we will all be.

Hey Jerome,
Smart Article hear my friend. Awareness of the importance of "You Inc" is a must.
Thanks Wayne. I am convinced
Thanks Wayne.
I am convinced without a You, Inc. model to operate from, there is no difference between your business and your competition.
Why not be unique. Why not be special. Why not make a difference.
There is no better way to run a home business other than this.
