Well first let me say, I was not a Twitter fan when the site first launched. I could not wrap my head around telling the world what I was doing every 15 minutes. Secondly for a person who loves to write, getting my point across in 140 characters is a miracle.

But after doing some more research I had to change my outlook about Twitter; and admit the pure advertisement power it gives to the general market place. Businesses online and offline are taking advantage of the Twitter Marketing power. Today I just want to share some points with you about Twitter just in case you were like me and just wrote it off from the beginning.

 Let's take a look at who's using Twitter. According to "Social Media Marketing for Dummies" 45% of Twitter users are between the age of 18 to 34. There is buying power in that age bracket. Also 24% are between the ages of 35 to 49.

But here are the numbers that got my attention. 25% make from $30 to $60k a year. 27% make from $60 to $100k and 30% of Twitter users make more than $100k a year.

Now if we want to talk target marketing, those numbers told me I better open a Twitter account. Twitter users are young, ambitious, and make good money. Which all make Twitter an ideal place to market.

Twitter Marketing Benefits

So now the question is what benefits does Twitter offer the average business. There are multiple reasons for any business to use Twitter.

1.) Company Branding - Tell the world who you are and what you have to offer.

2.) Customer Relations - You can use Twitter to handle customer problems and issues.

3.) Connect with Target Audience - I heard Mike Dillard say you can't sell steak to a vegetarian. Twitter helps you get your message to people who care.

4.) Product Promotions and Sales - With a large Twitter following you can broadcast a new product or sale you may be giving on a old product.

5.) Viral Effect - Offer good information on Twitter and users will Re-Tweet and share with their Twitter following which will become a nice viral effect for your business.
