How To Earn Money with Affiliate Marketing

Affiliate marketing has been one of my favorite ways to earn money online since I first starting back in 2004.  The best thing about this type of marketing is that it’s very easy to get going, doesn’t require products or inventory and allows you to earn passive income without dealing with customer support.  Essentially, you can simply write about products and services, link to them and when someone purchases, you earn a commission.

Most people are aware of this business model but not everyone knows how to build a successful business based upon it.  I’ll admit, it took me years to figure out that it takes much more than just posting ads on your site and hoping someone clicks on them and buys whatever it is you are promoting.  Today, however, affiliate marketing is one of my largest income sources and I enjoy finding great products and promoting them.  Here are a few tips to help you get more affiliate sales if you are interested in affiliate marketing.

1. Find a profitable niche

This is the most important part of the process and one that I screwed up on for many years.  In fact, I picked some of the worst niches imaginable and wondered why I couldn’t earn any money.  Pick the wrong niche and you will never be able to generate a substantial income.

2. Set up an effective website

This is one that many people struggle with.  A lot of people simply post a few ads or products within their site and then expect people to click and buy.  It doesn’t work like this for the most part so you will need a website designed to drive people to your offers.  From my experience, a review site works best and I have been able to build a full time income using this model alone.

3. Build a list

Most Internet marketers know how effective an email list can be for building an income online and it be extremely effective for affiliate marketers.  If you have selected a great niche, utilizing an email list of interested potential customers could be your best way for earning an affiliate income.  Of course, you don’t want to overwhelm your customers with offers constantly but by providing value, mixed with recommendations, you can produce a solid income using this model.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn money online and you can earn as little or as much as you would like.  The sky is truly the limit and if you are just getting started online, this could be the perfect choice for you to start bringing in an initial online income.
