What is the best compensation plan for a straight-line MLM opportunity?

I'm not asking which company has the best plan, but rather your opinion of the perfect MLM compensation plan if you had the chance to design it.

How many levels deep would it go?

What percentage would you assign to each level?

I find most people are confused by a matrix-driven plan and tend to not understand them.
