3 Ways To Stand Out On Better Networker - Jason Better

Read More: Article Marketing

How can you possibly stand out from the crowd these days? There's millions of people online and it's only gonna get worse.

So if you feel like barely anybody at all is reading your articles or watching your videos, well then, you're not alone. This is something we all have to face in internet marketing these days.

We're all competing for the same prize - attention.

So how do YOU get attention and KEEP it?

Well, here's a few ideas I've been kicking around. I'm sure you have some of your own and I would love to them too.

ATTENTION TIP No.1 --  Find The Ugliest Problem In Your Market

If you're stuck for a topic then you're not really looking. But the key is to pick something that people WANT to read about. And since people are primarily concerned with THEIR problems.

Picking a fight with their ugliest problem is a sure bet.

Because big problems are big business.

You find a problem and fix it.

Where Do You Find Problems?

I'm glad you asked. You could start by checking out the Better Networker Forums. People are screaming their problems every day. People are begging for answers. People want your help. So help them.

Keep your eyes peeled and you'll see problems everywhere. Soon enough, problems will start to look like piles of money.

But how do you SOLVE problems?

Well, that's what tip number two is all about.

ATTENTION TIP No.2 -- Turn Yourself Into A "Private Eye"

You've heard it's all about value, right? But how can you give something you don't have? You can't.

So what can you do?

Well, you can start by doing your "homework."

You start by becoming a P.I., a "private eye," a professional investigator. You read more. You dig deeper than the next guy. Even the "experts" don't know everything there is to know about the problems you're trying to solve.

So once you find a problem to tackle, put on your detective hat and gather piles of facts. It's no different than those essays your English teacher forced you to write...

IT'S WORK.

You have to dig up the facts BEFORE you write.

Because almost nobody else is doing this!

They're just slapping up articles left and right. Your research will stand out like glass of water in the desert. But make no mistake - THIS IS WORK.

And time is precious. So what can you do to save loads of time and still bring value to the table? Well...

ATTENTION TIP No.3 --   Here's What Smart Marketers Do

Because you only have so many hours in a day. You don't have time to read about SEO, Copywriting, Pay-Per-Click Ads, Video Marketing, Twitter, Facebook, Social Bookmarking and everything under the sun.

You should devote what little time you have to mastering ONE TARGETED SKILL. Just one skill that will help you generate leads. Get so good at this one skill that over time you become the "go to" guy for your industry.

And let me set the record straight...

The ladder of success is NOT crowded at the top.

The Internet is NOT crowded with real deal experts.

The truth is, there will never be enough experts to go around. If you master a skill like Pay-Per-Click or Copywriting... you have an incredible asset that 99% of your peers will not have -- HONEST TO GOODNESS VALUE.

Your skills will open more doors for you than any skeleton key. Your credibility will rocket through the roof and when you post anything at all... even a complete brain fart... something incredible will happen...

People will read it and care!

Anway, those are just a few ideas I've been kicking around...

I would like to hear your ideas too...

very good Jason. there is SO

very good Jason. there is SO much to learn about SO many topics. I remember in the late 90's when the first email marketers cranked up. They could sell anything then because email was all so new. Quite a bit different 10 years later! I think one good strategy is to build a mastermind group of different people who all excel at ONE media or ad method as you describe in your article. Combining their efforts, their "team" would be able to achieve massive results - each contributing their expertise, and all gaining from everyone's efforts.

Hey Thanks...

@Tristan Richards

Thanks Tristan. Your last article rocked too.
Loved it. :-)

@Gary Gilbreath

I totally agree. Team work is where it's at
these days. You'll notice that a lot of the
bigger blogs are collaborative efforts these
days... even the big ones like Copyblogger or
Mashable.

I think it's a trend that will continue to grow.

Good suggestion.

I'm a big fan of Seth's Blog.
Haven't read as many of his
books as I should though.

Jason, Thankyou for

Jason,
Thankyou for the great article,i think that is an awesome tip particularly with mastering one skill first before moving onto another one. When i started out a year ago i was so overwhelmed that i needed to know everything and i ended up going around in circles for months, which proved fruitless as i did'nt get much done at all!! So yes this advice is extremely valuable, and the saying "rome was'nt built in a day" rings true.
What do i do to stand out from the crowd?
I am refering to my social media efforts with this,i have used a unique angle about myself and leveraged off of that to brand myself (my blog and twitter accounts reflect this branding).I use my flying storys to highlight points i am trying to make. When you brand yourself AND use attraction marketing skills (ie not pitching your business and building relationships) this is an awesome combination i have found.
Can't wait to check out your blog to,and if you ever want to write an article for mine i would be very happy indeed ;)
Have an awesome christmas to btw.

Standing Out on Better Networker

Great ideas Jason. I am in the process of implementing them. I do want to thank you for the recommendation of targeting one area (like Facebook or SEO)and specializing on that particular one. I too have the problem of trying to do too many activities and end up wallowing in the mire. Also Linked In is another arena to build contacts. Keep up the good work.

Jason Jahr — Sun, 12/27/2009 - 2:52pm

become an Expert at one thing.

I just read that advice from another source, Jason. Your article once again is one, I would have "favorited" to reference again. So, I'll just search your content and reread to my heart's content. :-)

Seriously, it is so easy to feel compelled to "know it all". There is a clear strategy in becoming deep down, proficient at one skill set and get out there to help others resolve their issues on that topic.

Great article thanks.
