Are you making these common mistakes?

Whatever you are promoting, the principles are all the same. We all follow the same business model. I would like to talk about some of the biggest mistakes network marketers are constantly making. It’s through no fault of their own but the deep routes of their subconscious.

BUSY WORK:

How many of you feel like you are working like a dog (figuratively speaking), but don’t seem to actually get anything done? If you said yes, Kudos! You’ve realized there is a problem here. If you said no, you are probably lying to yourself.

We’ve all been guilty of it at one time or another. By busy work I mean you are incapable of doing “real” work until everything is set up in the office properly for instance. You do everything versus what you should actually be doing.  Granted, some of us need to do this, it is a coping mechanism. It’s not your fault; you are simply going through the motions like everyone else.  Odds are you are doing “busy work” to avoid something you really don’t want to do.  Which leads me to my next biggest mistake made by network marketers.

AVOIDANCE:

Avoidance is pretty self-explanatory and I think even the majority of us can’t be in denial of this one.  My suggestion is to take a look and be honest with yourself and face examining the tasks that you are putting off or the task that you fear the most. I can’t emphasize enough how important this is. In order to fix a problem, first you need to identify it. When you have a chance (don’t put it off, no pun intended) I want you to take out a piece of paper write out your greatest fears and I want you to work on them everyday.  Beside each “fear” or “daunting task” I want you to write examples of instances in which you over came them or at least showed some improvement. If you start attributing positive feelings with something that once gave you negative feelings soon those negative feelings will disappear and you won’t have anything in the way of your important work and your success.

We all have our different tasks we fear the most. I would say the number one reason people give in this business is they are afraid to talk to people, afraid of saying the wrong thing.

You need to let go of your fear because it is the only thing standing in between you and your big reason WHY.  I will be honest with you this was my biggest fear as well. I then realized how unreasonable it was to have this fear and it has opened several doors for me.

What you really need to think about and what helped me was always remembering who I am, what I stand for, why I’m doing this, and that made the possibility of rejection seem trivial. How silly does it seem to be afraid to offer someone something they should be thanking me for showing them.

People are generally good. When you are on the phone with someone and they “reject” you (our biggest fear) what is the worst possible thing that has happened? Nothing. But if you feel insecure and aren’t sure who you are, if you aren’t in a healthy state of mind that will affect you substantially more.

Busy work and avoidance go hand in hand. In order to avoid busy work, we need to avoid AVOIDANCE. Let’s not get into the complexity of “avoiding avoidance.” I’m not here for verbal swordplay. But you know what I mean.

I want to give you some tips on how to be productive and do less busy work. The fact of the matter is, every single one of us has lives going on, things are going to come up, the house is going to be a disaster, etc. But what we really need to do is first get to the routes of our busy work & avoidance.  Second, make time for it (it does have a place, and lets face it, the dishes aren’t going to do themselves). But we NEED to take a scheduled amount of time for our business and we need a daily/weekly/monthly/yearly plan of what we want to accomplish or nothing will get accomplished.

Great article.

I particularly liked this quote and if you don't mind I may keep it to use at the appropriate time. "How silly does it seem to be afraid to offer someone something they should be thanking me for showing them."
Excellent advice. Thanks for taking the time to share it.
To your success,

It's funny to be afraid of not providing adequate value

When I look around at all the junk that is offered that people pay good money for or worse invest their time, I wonder why in the world I am afraid that I am not offering great value, time and energy. Now where did I get that idea! Thanks for restating something that we need to hear again and again. Joy
