Google "Slaps" Article Witers
Google Has Had Enough of Articles!
Google has apparently put new mechanisms in place to "weed out" the tidal wave of "poor" quality articles which is flooding the internet!)
These days a good understanding of and implementation of effective keyword research and other SEO techniques, has become essential for anyone who is trying to earn a living online and who is looking for high page rankings.
In recent times, however, people are increasingly using new "tricks" to improve their page rankings. The most popular seems to be the strategy of creating (and flood) the net with huge numbers of short articles. The problem is that the vast majority of these articles are of really poor quality!
Google wants to put a stop to this practice!
It seems that there are now so many millions of poor quality short articles choking the internet, that very soon article-writing will become a redundant form of web marketing!
The over-supply of short (poor quality) articles, has reached such a level that Google is already putting algorithms in place to "slap" all low-quality articles into oblivion!
This development will bring about a significant change in Internet Marketing (as we know it!)
Since May 2010, Google has introduced an automated mechanism to find all "poor quality" content and remove these from the front page of it's search results.
Another factor which seems to have motivated Google's latest move is the growth and influence of the Mobile web and Social Media.
Web 2.0, Social Media and the Mobile Web, are driven almost entirely on the sharing of great content. It seems inevitable, that in this "new" online environment, article-writing can only take a back-seat (I believe that this is already happening!)
These days most internet users would much rather watch a video clip than read a boring (and probably over "spinned") article!
Web 2.0 and Social Media is revolutionizing the way people use the internet!
In our ever-changing online environment, Internet Marketers will soon find it almost impossible to make any impression on customers with articles!
To summarize: It's time for all Internet Marketers to adapt to the reality of the "new" internet! Its time to make a choice: You can continue spending plenty of time and effort, producing large volumes of poor (or even average quality) articles and get nowhere! Or, you can start giving Google (and your customers) more Social Media-style content. This is the way of the future and unless you start shifting your "article writing mindset" soon, you will increasingly start losing out to those Marketers who "get it!"

Great Post Stephen
I myself welcome such changes that google is making. Far to long many people have been gaming the system by cheating or just putting out worthless content by using article spinners and then blasting out the same article saying the same thing over and over.
Its about time! People will need to start offering more value and the days of being lazy and gaming the system are coming to an end.
Google is doing the same thing with videos. No longer can you stuff your discription and tags with a bunch of keywords just to rank and have your video show up on many different pages that are not relevant to what the searcher is looking for when someone does a search.
Google just wants things to be relevant to what people are searching for and I think its great!
And your right, they are also giving articles and video a lot of weight with the sharing of content through social media. In other words, the more your stuff is tweeted, digged, and passed around through social and web 2.0 the higher you will rank.
I did a test just last night on a video. I stuffed it with all kinds of keywords in discription and tags and sure enough they did not show up...Which is good!
Google is on the right track.
Wishing you all my best :)
Thanks For The Heads Up
It's no surprise... Google is a constant evolving planet requiring those of us who choose to thrive to keep our ears to the ground. At the end of the day... Quality always wins over shoddy half (you know what) attempts.
Thanks again for a great article.

PS: I wouldn't toss your pens and tablets aside just yet... as far as my understanding goes, Google relies heavily on text and probably will for quite some time.
