RSS is difficult for me to explain to new internet marketers. I can easily describe it in terms of offline syndication. Imagine a small town newspaper column becomes really popular OVERNIGHT all across the country. How does that happen? We know exactly how, right?
Offline Syndication
We know exactly how that happens because that type of syndication has been around for a long time.
The small town column gets picked up by other larger newspapers and that reporter gets a raise, offers from BIG time newspapers, admiration from the entire community... Even the small town newspaper is suddenly famous!
Online Syndication
Your blog or any of your web content can also get picked up in syndication in sort of the same way. You have probably contributed to making other blogs famous... If you are reading a blog post you like, there will usually be an RSS icon close by that you can click.
That will often take you to several choices of "RSS feeds." I usually use Google Reader. So if your blog post is inside my public page at Google Reader, that means I have just put your post into syndication with Real Simple Syndication (RSS)! But for you to become famous OVERNIGHT, that would take TONS of us clicking that little RSS button.
So, yes, if a lot of people, and I do mean tons of them, if they syndicate your online article, your article would probably go "viral" and you'd be famous! But how do you make that happen?
Synnd Syndication
Synnd is a software product created by Charles Heflin and his social media science research team. It is available to use for free if you are inside the private membership at SocialMediaScience.com.
When using synnd, your web content will be syndicated by the private membership, more than 600+ people and growing daily.
It's like asking 100s of people to RSS your work only better. Because inside the membership, 100s of members will gladly do it! Why? Because it's automated. I think it's quite phenomenal and a total breakthrough in internet technology, especially for people who are interested in outsourcing their social media marketing.
