Spell Check Anyone?

First of all, let me say that I am not perfect. However, I will tell you I am simply amazed by the spelling and grammar errors that persist throughout this industry. Every website and almost every article has a spelling or grammar error that makes me just cringe.

So what can we do to combat this?

1)      Spelling and Grammar Check – This one is probably the most obvious answer. I realize the text editors often do not have spell check. In that case, why not consider writing your article in your favorite word processing program. That way you can run a quick spelling and grammar check and then copy and paste your article over.

2)      Proofread for Content - From what I can tell most people write very quickly and then do not read over their work. We move very quickly in this industry. However, our articles are not lengthy and it probably wouldn’t take more than an extra 5 or 10 minutes.

3)      Proofread for Errors – If you are nitpicky like me, you may even proofread a second time. The first read through for flow and content. The second read through for small errors like “their” and “there”.

4)      Ask a Team Member/Friend to Proofread – Perhaps writing is not your forte and you are a little intimidated by it all. Ask someone on your team or find a friend/relative to read over your work. You never know they might get interested in the business and you could sponsor a new partner.

5)      Utilize Resources – There are so many good resources out there to assist you with your writing skills. The most recent exposure I had was to the EzineArticles’ email series. They sent me an email daily and then weekly. It was an excellent series and I highly recommend it. (Side note: This is also a great place to practice your skills, publish and gain exposure!)

The bottom line is that we are all looking to improve the network marketing industry. We want the credibility, so we need to present ourselves as professional marketers. Articles and web pages are not text messages. So buck up and review your old textbooks. If you don’t like that, just start posting more video!
