Article writing has become a key element of what has been coined web 2.0, the process of marketing yourself or a product online. Posting articles on e-zines or (internet magazines), is now one of the most popular ways to create targeted traffic to websites that contain information on everything from coaching to selling greeting cards. It is also a great way to do list building. In this article I will briefly go over the why's and how's of article writing to increase your small or home based businesses bottom line.

Why should we use articles as part of our marketing strategy? The first and most important is that it helps with personal branding. It will show you for who you are and what you have to offer. Second it will help with website optimization. As your articles are opened read and readers click on your web links this will attract web crawlers to take notice and give these linked sites higher search ratings. Third it allows you to attract the type of people that you would like to work with. When readers resonate with your style of writing and content they will seek to develop a relationship with you. They will already be the type of people you can relate too.

Now let's look at some key points on what articles should contain. The most important item in an article is Value. Without benefit to you targeted audience the article is worthless. The article should be written as you speak, that way your true brand comes across and it will attract people who can know, like and trust you. The article must be rich in keyword content, be simple and easy to read. The article does not have to be perfect but should leave the reader wanting more information from you.

I want to talk about two subjects in this paragraph; Title and the resource box. The title is very important. The title is were the web crawlers looks first, not only that, it looks at the first four words. If you waste these words your rating will be very low, your article will not get picked up or rated high. Be sure that your title is keyword rich in these first four words. The resource box is, what I like to call your "commercial box". Here you are given the opportunity to give your pitch, and add links to websites and capture pages. Be sure to be brief and to the point here with the emphasis on the links, clicks are you objective.

There are many good sources to find great content for articles. Youtube is one of my favorite places to go and collect information to write about marketing topics. Another great source can come from your self development; books, audios, and other training material provided by your auto responder or other systems you use everyday. Collect the information and write it in a note book in a semi outline form and then write your article in word or any text format so that it can be easily copied and pasted to the internet. Using a article submission service is a great way to have wide exposure.

My last point will be what to do after your article is written and posted to the web. First follow up all the way until your article has been accepted. Sometime there may be a small problem with the format or grammar or something the article site administrator would like for you to change before it reaches final acceptance. Next post invitations and announcements about your article on all of your social networking site and send out broadcast to your existing list. Also add back links from your websites to your articles. Next turn your articles into different information products, videos, audios, webinars, e books est.. Another great way to use your articles is for team training.

Articles writing as an attraction marketing tool will show you as a leader. People are looking for others to do business with they can feel comfortable with, people they can know, like and trust. So have fun, be your self, and bring great value and benefit to others and you will see positive results. Article writing can be your ticket to attracting tones of highly qualified leads to your opportunity. Readers who can relate to what you have to say and would like more information will share there contact information, you will be able to add value to there lives and yours.
