Be a World Class Sprinter
I started my first MLM home business back in 1990 with a company that had exceptional products, but was lacking in several other areas, that caused an eventual collapse of the company and many lost thier dreams. Now they have a different name, and will remain small and insignificant in the marketplace.
I spent 10 years with that company, and attained a high level and great pay check, but it was unsustainable, due to the inherant weaknesses of a poor pay structure, inexperienced management team, and lack of a proven system of duplication.
Had I been able to see the future, or been wise enough, I could have saved myself 10 years of trial and error, and the sinking feeling of seeing the dreams of several hundred associates in my downline get washed away with the rest of the company.
The moral of the story is, do your due diligence when looking for a company to work with. Be a critical thinker, and take the time to read the policies and procedures, investigate the pay structure, do a bio on the CEO and management team. Check a few MLM watchdog sites for clues or information that may spell trouble down the road. Without a proven, duplicatable system in place, you'll be fighting the current alone, without a paddle!
Nothing good or worthwhile comes easy, it takes time and effort, learning how, doing the right things and duplicating those things to earn a walk away income that will be around long after you are.
When ever you hear the hype and get in before it's too late, or another rich quick pitch, remember these words...
"RUN FOREST, RUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Truth
Forest Gump had more on the ball than many of us.
I agree Paul, it is so
I agree Paul, it is so important to do your research and learn all you can about this industry. I know I did and I was surprised. Now I am secure where I am at because of the research I did.
I ran
but didn't know I was supposed to run. There were reason's that I was not successful. Eventually, you realize that if you are doing all that you can, and still fail-then what you realize that it is NOT your fault.
It's only your fault, when you have done absolutely nothing.
Thank you, Paul for the reminder of what to look for and how to move forward!

Picking right
Picking the right company is obviously important... just like picking the right team and learning how to do that is the key in the survival game. I love this movie, it makes so many references to life using humor... Great Job!
You've touch on...
...all of the most important criteria for choosing a company worthy of spending your most valuable asset on - your time. Tomorrow is never promised to us, but it is nonetheless important to "do our due" (diligence that is) and put as many factors as possible on our side. Well-written and to-the-point. Thank you, Paul, for sharing your experience and expertise.
Nice word picture!
Great story with a great word picture! Thanks Paul for the truth!
"When you hear the hype.....
....and all the get rich pitches" Paul you nailed it. You gave the best advice anyone could ask for. RUN!

Have Awesome Day My Friend,

I'm no longer running
I wish I'd run from several of the companies I was in. You're so right...you need to do your homework!
it takes time and effort
I like this..."it takes time and effort, learning how, doing the right things and duplicating those things to earn a walk away income that will be around long after you are". You said it well!
"Things Happen" Forrest Gump
Paul, I was in same boat as you in my first mlm. Great products, upline ok. Paycheck not so good. Now I know that the only way is the 5 pillar company way. Like Forrest Gump also said "Things Happen", I am glad I got out of that company and found Your company, If you don't believe in a duplicatable system and a 5 pillar company, then all I can say is "It is what it is"' Great value Paul. I loved it.
