1 Chance to Make a Good Impression – Here’s 5 Steps to make it Great!
Have you figured out what’s been keeping your visitors coming back yet! Or aren’t they! Either way there are some very simple tweaks you can make that will give you a greater first impression on your blog but will also have your visitors coming back frequently!
It’s all in the branding, there are thousands of blogs out there offering great information, and the real difference between average and expert is doing the things that people will remember you by, as opposed to the others in your niche. That’s why the leaders who earn the real money are in the top 3-5% of all people in the industry, they know how to make people want to stick around!
Here are 5 points to take note of when creating a killer blog and Personal Brand.
1 – Have a clean and neat visual design! You only get one chance to make a first impression!
Nobody wants to stick around if your blog is cluttered with no real order to anything.
Have your Social Media links to your profiles in clear view. That way its easy to connect with you.
Make sure it’s easy for your visitors to navigate around too, use clear, simple headed menu options.
Wonder why Google and Apple use a white background? White space is easy on the eyes so the content of your posts should certainly stick to white to make for easy reading.
2 – Have a professional looking header with a tag line that represents what you bring to the table!
Is it a hobby for you? If you want people to take you serious and as a professional in your field, have a header design, it won’t break the bank and you’ll need to invest a little if you want to create a serious flood of traffic and eventually monetise your blog anyway.
Make sure your tag line gives your visitors at a glance insight in to what you actually do. There’s no need to go over the top, just make sure your mission is clear.
3 – Have a welcome video!
Again, nothing dramatic, just a short introduction and why you feel it will benefit your readers to stick around!
It should be no longer than 2 minutes long, at the end of the day, they want the value of your content, the reason they will check out the intro is to know you a little better. And that’s it!
Add a call to action, newsletter sign-up, comments, connecting with you etc.
4 – Stay away from banner ads!
Your blog should be a free resource offering value, information and your expertise. Don’t scare people away by pitching them every 5 pixels!
Have a tool box or recommended resources page, if you have something that your visitors want they will look for it or ask you!
5 – Mix up your content!
Have pictures to break up your post and use videos as often as possible. You want to get your information across in as many different ways as you can.
Pictures and videos will help to engage your visitors. Be unique and be dynamic, be adventurous. Combine different methods as well (Like this post).
Pump your personality and brand in there at all times. Be humorous, be bold (or however you – your brand – want to come across!
Final Thoughts
If you follow these steps, I can guarantee that your blog will be more interactive and engaging. You want people to feel welcome and comfortable, mix that with awesome value in your content and you will win fans quicker then you’d ever imagine possible.
If you know anyone struggling in this department, point them towards this post, also, if you would like to add your own pointers then I encourage you to comment.
