A Free Blog Comes At A Scary Price To Your MLM Business

For bloggers, the debate over the use of free versus paid blogs has been a hot topic for a long time.

Marketers have strong opinions one way or the other but I have found the "no cost blogging" platforms like Wordpress.com and Blogger.com come at a steep price.

When it comes to a long term MLM business blog, the free accounts available online suck (sorry to be so blunt)!  That is why I make it a point to tell others in the Network Marketing Industry to steer clear of Blogger.com, Wordpress.com or any other free site available!

WHY?

You don't own anything on it!  If you are building online assets and equity they can cancel your account at anytime for anything they feel is against their terms of service.  You can loose everything you had in the account! 

Imagine years worth of posts, links, comments, videos and other content - gone and no way to get it back.

Monetization rules are very strict.  They do not allow ads, product promotions, affiliate links or even posts that they feel are sales-ish. 

There is very little coding you can change or customizations that you can add to make the site your own and personalize it.   Even the way the site functions is very limited with only a few plugins or widgets to add.

And some don't even offer the opportunity to add a lead capture form or contact me box.  Which is the entire reason you would want to use a blog for your MLM business in the first place!

Plus, the URLs are really long and ugly with the extra .blogspot or .wordpress.com on the end. 

Think about your reader for a second.  How professional do you look to them if you are using a free account and not willing to spring for the $7 a month to host your own?

After trying different platforms and making loads of mistakes, there is only one choice for me now.  I believe having a blog on Wordpress.Org is really the only way to go.  They are very inexpensive and with a bit of help you can have a blog set up in minutes.

This way you own everything on it, you can back up all your information if something does go wrong and be back up and running in no time.  You can brand yourself and completely customize how you want your blog to look with unlimited plugins, widgets, themes and templates.

I use a self hosted blog on Wordpress.Org as a customized Nerve Center or Online Home of our entire business. 

You might be surprised at how little it costs.  Less than $30 a month to run the entire thing - including our sales funnel and autoresponder service.

To get your own Wordpress.Org site you will need to have website hosting and register a domain name.  Most domain names are less than $20 a year and you can get hosting packages for $5- 10 a month.

Now, I will warn you that setting up a really nice blog can be a difficult process.  There is definitely a learning curve.  Be prepared to spend some time learning a bit of html, css, photoshop or other photo editing software, how to use your file manager in Cpanel, or an ftp client and how your blogging platform works.  

A very basic blog can be launched in only a few minutes with just a domain name and a hosting account but to set up a Nerve Center and have it function perfectly you will need some help and more than a couple lessons on how to maneuver within your account.

Now you understand that although the website may say the blog is free, you know different.  Stop wasting your time and money on a site that you don't own. 

It could cost you your business as well as your sanity!
