Best Blog Sites-Why Blogging For Money Is A Waste Of Time
Get rid of any big ideas that you have in your head right now. About making money from blogging. Because there is more than just a good chance that you will fail miserably,
if you think blogging is a great career move for you, then I suggest that you think again.
I am always surprised that so many people still think that blogging is a get-rich-quick scheme.Or even a get-rich-slowly scheme. It is far from being either "Believe Me".
While its true to say that blogging is a great method of creating opportunities for yourself. There are 3 very good reasons why you probably won't make any money from your blog.
1) The Top Bloggers Come From A Writing And Journalistic Back-ground.
People have being predicting the end of print media for more years than I care to remember. But here's something that you might not know.
Many of the big blog websites like Erik Schoenfeld (TechCrunch) and Owen Thomas (Valleywag) had written for many years in national media.
Anya Kamenetz (Yahoo Finance) wrote for the village voice, and already had a book published. long before she started to blog.
There are always exceptions, Are you one of them?
Heather Armstrong at (Dooce) is a seriously talented lady. Who taught herself HTML and was a successful web designer. But she didn't come from a print media background.
Her talent is natural. However she has something other than talent going for her. She is. married to a very talented web developer.
who does some of the technical work on her blog for free. This allows Heather to express her natural talent in writing and designing. Without having to many other technical distractions..
2)You Already Have A Full Time Job
Even if you can overcome the above obstacles. How will you find the time to juggle a full time job, and learn the necessary skills required in running a successful blog?
Most successful blog owners will tell you that they came home from work.Logged onto their computers, and experimented with their blogs. Until they found a way to make it financially stable enough. To quit their day job for good.
JD Roth followed this method in building (Get Rich Slowly) Other popular blog owners have gone down the same route, and they found the stress almost unbearable.
Then you have the question of family. Blogging and having kids is not a good match. Because if you work during the day, and have a couple of kids.
Then you could easily argue that you have 2 full time and highly stressful jobs already and.Adding another one on top is something that you really don't want or need.
You will probably be not too surprised to hear that a fair percentage of the top bloggers. Did not have any kids when they started their blogs.
3) You're Just Not Being Controversial Enough
It has been proven time and time again. That being controversial can bring vast amounts of visitors to your blog. But the downside to this. Is that they might be coming to your blog for all the wrong reasons.
They might be visiting just to say what a king sized prick you are, or worse.
Are you thick skinned enough to handle the negative flak that will surely come your way, on a regular basis? Will you have the drive and determination of someone like Perez Hilton.
Who gets tons of negative comments on his celebrity blog. But he still says what he likes, and continues to writes about famous people apparently without a care in the world.
So the idea that blogging will help you get rich: Forget it. Your chances of that are so slim, while your chances of gaining the other benefits of blogging are very high.
So blog, yes, and do it to reach real goals, just not financial goals.
