Guest Blogging Tips: The Fast Start Guide..

guest-blogging-tipsI’ve been guest blogging around the web for quite a while now and I’ve learned a thing or two that I’d like to share with you.

They’re calling guest blogging “the new Article Marketing”, and for good reason. There’s no better way to put yourself in front of an already existing audience and drive that audience back to your blog.

Plus, the backlink you get from an already established blog is much more significant than any link an article submission site will give you.

More Great Reasons..

Another great reason to REALLY consider guest posting on other blogs is that the perceived association with the blog owner. Because you’re a guest blogger at their blog, their authority is rubbed off on you in the eyes of your potential readers and prospects.

I can go on and on about the benefits that guest blogging gives you, but I’m gonna get right to the point and tell you some things that I’ve learned during my guest blogging journey.I’ve done about 8 guest postings in the past month or two, and every time I did one, I learned something new.

Top 3 Guest Blogging Tips

guest-blogging-tips-21. Quality Is What Matters Most – I’ve heard people talk about guest posting on other blogs, and a tip that I don’t agree with is the fact that you need to have some type of relationship with the blog owner before pitching them the post. (or post idea)

This is not true. If your post is truly quality stuff, the blog owner won’t care if you accidentally ran over a kitten – he’ll put it up for his readers to read. The same holds true if you become the blog owners best friend because he found out you just donated all your money to a Foundation his sister started – if your content sucks – there’s a really good chance he won’t publish it.

2. Use Your Previous Work as Proof - You should be using your best content as guest posts because you’ll attract more readers that way. The extra benefit of doing this is that you get to use your previous guest postings to “show-off” your work to the next blog owner.

Having a portfolio of posts increases that chances of a blog owner accepting your post and publishing it on their blog.

3. Treat It As It Were Your Own Blog - If you want to increase the chances of getting a second post on that blog, you should treat your first post as if it was published on your blog. This means you should promote the post using social media sites, and social bookmarking sites.

You also want to reply to all the comments that you get at that blog. The blog owner will love you for it. Plus, you get a whole bunch of backlinks from that blog, which increase traffic and help your SEO.

The Fast Start Guide..

guest-blogging-tips-3Step 1. Know their audience – It’s pointless to guest blog on a “dog training” blog, if your market is primarily interested in weight loss. It’s important to know who you’ll be writing to, in order to get the most benefit out of each article. The post will most likely be accepted if there’s a good message to market match.

Also, dig around the blog a little. There’s nothing better than to do some internal linking within to post itself to other blog posts.

Step 2. Write the post - People have different views about this particular step. Some prefer to simply pitch the IDEA before spending time writing a post. But the problem with this is that if you get a YES from a blog owner, it might take you a while to get back to them.

I prefer pitching the blog owner with the post already done because once the pitch is made, you stay front of mind, which increases the possibility of the post being accepted. If it’s not accepted, then the blog owner might help you make it better. You can always pitch other blog owners with the same post, after you fixed it up a little.

Worse case scenario, you just publish it on your own blog. :0)

Step 3. Rinse & Repeat - The key here is to guest blog on as many blogs as possibility to expand your reach. Big, popular blogs, with huge audiences can give you a spike in traffic, but you shouldn’t underestimate the power of guest blogging on a bunch of smaller blogs.

Remember that is you want to expand your reach, the audience you reach has to change. Posting on the same blog over and over again, will give you less and less results every time you do it.
