Guest Post BloggingHow many guest blog post have you done?

How many do you intend to do?

What can guest posting on other bloggers blog do for you?

Allow me to paint you a brief picture.

You are a great but unrecognized music artist. You have been making music for years, it’s your life, your passion. You walk, talk, breathe and sleep music. You have done hundreds of demo tapes, written just as many songs and tried your hardest to break into the music industry.

You have made some waves along the way, but they have hardly kept the doorsteps of top music execs wet enough. However you push on with the knowledge that your material is out there and one day someone with huge influence will recognize just how talented and great you are and they will shine the light on you.

The VMA’s (Video Music Awards) are coming to a town near you. There is no way you are going to miss it. As soon as the tickets are released you buy 4 (just incase you lose 3) and place them in secure places all around your house.

The night you have been waiting for finally arrives. You’ve your got your hair done, brought a new outfit, a new camera, cases of batteries for the camera just to make sure you don’t miss any picture opportunities. You are ready for the musical night of your life.

At the VMA’s you see star after star after star. All the big names, everyone you admire, look up to and want to be like. You have taken so many pictures you have filled up the memory card on your camera and you have now resorted to taking shaky pictures on your mobile phone.

One of the biggest artist in the world is onstage accepting an award for best video of the decade. Everybody knows who this person is, the crowd are going wild. The host presenting the award asks the artist what other artist do they listen to on their iPod. The artist reels off some well know (to be expected) names, then says your name.

This completely washes over your head, you didn’t even hear your name properly. But the host presenting the award picked up on it and questioned the artist.

Host: – Who is the last person you just mentioned?

Big Superstar Artist: – Your Name. Your Name is an unknown artist. I found their cd knocking around my office, I can’t stop listening to it. Their writing skills are out of this world, their voice is perfect on every beat and their understanding of music is like none I have ever known.

Unable to speak or move (your barely breathing), you sit back down in your chair where you stayed until the cleaners kicked you out.

Floating home, you were certain it must have been a dream or maybe another artist as you with the same name.

You arrive home. Convinced that what just happened, didn’t just happen. You switch on your beloved Mac, login to Facebook where you have 500+ new friend request and they are increasing by the minute.

All asking if you are the person the big, award winning, superstar artist was talking about and can they hear your music.

Guest Post Blogging Can Turn You Into A Superstar

Ok, so there may not be a stage, a mic and a big superstar artist calling out your name in the middle of a big, global award show.

But, think of the biggest blog you can think of. Make sure it is a blog that is in your niche.

For me it would be CopyBlogger and Pro-blogger.

These blogs have huge lists and an even bigger readership. They are well respected, followed and admired.

Having a guest post published on one of these blogs will bring highly targeted traffic to my blog, and here are 2 reasons why:

   1. They won’t publish rubbish content on their blog, so I will have their stamp of approval, their superstar recommendation.
   2. Their readers will be curious about who I am, they will naturally want to know more about me. (Whether they like my post or not).

Social proof of your ability is by far the best recommendation you can get. Having great blogs publish your content instantly tells their readers that you are worthy of a place on their blog and therefore a worthwhile person to follow.

Do I intend to submit some guest post to these blogs?

You damn right I am.

Where You Should Be Guest Posting?

It’s not only the big blogs that you should look to guest post on. You should be aiming to guest post on as many blogs that you feel you can add credible value to.

The more places you are seen guest posting, the more traffic that will be coming your way.

Stay within the remit of your niche

What Should Your Guest Post Be About?

Before you submit a guest post, read as many post as you can that currently exist on the blog that you are hoping to appear on.

You will need to get an understanding of the type of post they post. You will also need to know the type of reader they are appealing to.

Your post should be inline with what their blog is all about. Of course you should be yourself, just keep in mind that your playing away from home, so you need to be on your best behavior.

Your post has a stronger chance of being published if it will only appear on their blog. A unique, one off piece of special content.

What Happens If the Blog Owner Rejects You?

Now this is going to happen.

But don’t get disheartened, you are just about to learn some valuable information which will help you grow as a strong money making blogger.

If the blog owner rejects you ask them why they have rejected you and if they have any recommendations / advice for your post.

If someone like Brian Clark (CopyBlogger) or Darren Rowse (Pro-Blogger) critiques your work and gives you some tips, that right there is free, solid advice from some established blog owners who know what they are talking about.

It would be the equivalent of Michael Jordan giving you tips on how to slamdunk.

Adjust your post and re-submit, thanking the blog owner for their guidance

Guest Posting For Traffic

Guesting posting is like having access to someone else list for a limited amount of time. Because of this the content you provide to that bloggers community has to be to their specification. They will not be allowing any rubbish to be pushed out to there friends and business associates.

The blog owner, knows how important it is to share value. This is why they allow guest posts on their blog in the first place. They understand that introducing their readers to other quality bloggers is giving more value to their readers.

The traffic that you will generate from appearing as a guest blogger will be highly targeted. The readers will be very interested in who you are. They will already respect your existence as a blogger, business person, writer etc for the simple fact that you have appeared on a blog that they regularly read, like and appreciate.

Your new readers won’t just be looking for a solution to a problem from you, they will be looking to see how you do what you do and more importantly why. This kind of reader is the kind or reader you want.

Have You Been A Guest Blogger Before?

Have you appeared as a guest blogger before?

How was it?

Did you get traffic from the blog you appeared on? (I bet you did)

Are you thinking of guest post blogging, but want to discuss it first?

Tell the BN community all about it.

I am going to be doing a lot more guest blogging in the future and I strongly advise you to do the same.
