HOW TO GET PEOPLE TO YOUR BLOG

Yesterday, I wrote about the basic parts of a sales funnel. If didn’t read it, you can get that here. Today, I want to share with you how to get people to your blog and make them fall in love with YOU… and your blog! I’m assuming that you have determined your purpose and are now on the path to connecting with your target audience. If you haven’t done so, bookmark this for later. The thing you want to avoid is working really hard to create a useless blog. Keep reading to discover ways to get people to your blog.

Promoting will get people to your blog

The only place where people love traffic is on the internet! To get that traffic you have to promote your blog. With over 17 million registered websites, you can’t just wait for traffic to happen. Nobody, including the search engines, will know you are alive. It’s like standing in the middle of a desert with a glass of water and no signs pointing to you. Promoting your blog will help with this. You need to think about your prospect and where they hang out. You can’t wait for them to seek you out. Again, they don’t know you’re there. They aren’t just going to stroll over to www.yourname.com just to see you. Your job is to give them something that relates to a problem they have. When you do that, they will come. As long as you keep giving it to them, they’ll keep coming. Make sense? Promote your blog in the places where your target market is. If your target market is on MySpace - you need to own it. If your target market hangs out on FriendFeed, you need to be there.

Communicate in Reality to get people to your blog

Talk about things that are real to your prospect. If they get to your blog, and all you talk about is business – they will leave. If all you talk about are your products and services – they will leave. Neither of these things speaks to the ‘problems’ they are dealing with. Sure, your product, service or business may be the answer to their problem, but if you don’t show them HOW one of these things relate – they will leave. Mike Dillard gave the best analogy of this when I heard him say, ‘Nobody that ever bought a drill wanted a drill. They wanted a hole!’ Fill that in with your offer, ‘Nobody that ever bought a ____, wanted a _____. They wanted _____’.

Content will get people to your blog

The internet mantra is: ‘Content is king!’ Again, this content is not promoting your business, product or service. Solve somebody’s problem. If your target market can’t get leads, give lead generation tips. If your target market wants great skin, talk about great skincare! Provide valuable content that will really HELP your visitors. When you repeatedly do that, you will raise your ‘importance level’ to them and this will ultimately help your business. Step outside of your comfort zone and start talking about the thing that matter to your target market. I can tell you now, your business, product or service do NOT matter to your target market.

Consistency will get people to your blog

No matter what your end product is, consistency is the key. Keep the content coming. You should post daily! There is enough content available for you to do that. As a matter of fact, I think tomorrow’s post will be on where to find content! I’ve done one before, but I’ve found some new stuff that would be cool to share! Back to consistency, post daily and promote daily. Using the above information will help you get people to your blog, and your target market into your sales funnel. If you found value in this post, share it on Facebook and Google +!
