How To Get Your Logo Displayed On Browsers Address Books And Bookmark Menus | A Favicon Tutorial
When I look in my Bookmark Menu at all the blogs I have bookmarked about 50% of you do not have a Favicon.
Favicons are just another little way of branding you.
So what is a Favicon? I hear 50% of you ask.
It is the icon which appears next to your url on browsers, in address books and in bookmark menus.
It is very easy to get and use one read on....
How To Get Your Logo Displayed On Browsers.
1. Get a picture / image / icon / logo which you want to use.
2. A Favicon image should not be more than 16×16 pixels (px) in size (this is tiny, so don’t go using a massive very detailed image because it won’t look good). Using image editing software Picasa, Paint.Net, Photoshop, Coral Draw etc crop and re-size your image to 16×16px.
3. Once you have the crop and correct size of the image save it as a .ico, .jpg or .png file. So your saved filename should look like myicon.ico or myicon.jpg.
4. Save this file to a location that is easy to remember, the desktop is usually a good place.
This part can get tricky, but follow the steps and you will be just fine.
5. Go to the cPanel of your website / blog. The cPanel is the back end of your site. If you don’t get involved with the back end of your site, still follow along and pass on the information to the person who does.
You will need your cPanel link with your Username and Password.
6. Once inside your cPanel, click on File Manager.

7. A window will appear asking where in File Manager you want to go. Make sure Web Root is selected and hit the Go button

8. You are now in the main File Manager directory for your site. At the top of the page there is an Upload button, click it.
![]()
9. This will take you to a browse page where you select your Favicon

10. Job done. Your Favicon is now in the main root directory of your site. The Browsers, Address Books and Bookmark Menus will now be displaying your Favicon. (This may take 5-10 mintues to come into effect).
It just one of those little things which go makes your brand look better and stronger with more thought and effort put into it.
I look forward to your Favicon creations.

Where was this 2 months ago?
I wish I had seen this a couple of months ago, I wouldn't have had to pay someone to do favicons for my sites. Great info and easy to understand, even for this simple man.

Improve sales with your log0
There has been research on conversion rates of logo. It has been proven after years of study and research that if you use a crest as your company logo you will make more sales.
This was proven on by the Cheskin firm which is the same company the Walt Disney company has hired to figure out which color will give their characters greater appeal.
