SEO? Social Media? PPC? Link Building? How do I promote my blog?

You might have spent days, weeks and even months creating a stunning blog with nice graphics and good content but then you realise no one look at your blog! A blog is just like any other websites. Of course sometimes people stumble upon it but that is not enough. You need to have strategies to promote it. Below are a few key strategies:

1. Optimise Your Blog For Google

  • Use a plugin called All In One SEO Pack to add title, description and keywords to your blog, pages and blog posts.
  • Change the permalink setting of your blog post so that your blog post title is included in the url, instead of a number. For example, the url for this blog post is http://www.ketsangtai.com/promote-blog-increase-visitors/.
  • Link your posts to other posts in your blog and also to other popular websites

2. Social Media

  • Sign up to 10-20 social media sites and use ping.fm to post your latest blog posts to all these sites.
  • Participate in conversation in social media and use your blog post to answer questions.
  • Ask your social media friends to comment on your posts. More comments = higher google ranking

3. Social Bookmarking

  • I use a service called Onlywire to send my new blog posts to various social bookmarking sites.
  • Make sure you use appropriate keywords or tag for your bookmarks.

4. Cross Promotion

  • Build relationship with other bloggers and cross promote your blog posts.

5. Utilise your contacts and leads

  • If you have a good blog post which gives good value, send it to your leads or contacts. Don’t forget to ask them to comment.
  • You can do the same if you have a facebook group or fan page.
  • If you tweet about your blog post, ask people to retweet it.

6. Post good content at regular basis

  • Content is king. The more content you have on your blog, the more google likes you.

7. Blog Communities

This list is by no mean comprehensive but it is a good starting point. If you like this article, please comment, share and tweet.

Re

Your writing just about this post seems to be best and different students would take it for their essay thesis. And some of scholars still take the aid of thesis service.

Social Net Effect For Blogging

One of the best ways that I have found (I use all of the ways you have revealed in this post) to increase the number of regular visitors to my blog is to use plugins for social networks right on my blog.

The wp-pingfm plugin is designed to send your blog post to ping.fm every time you post on your blog. Plus, you can also arrange to have your entire blog posts published on other sites like Multiply.com, Xanga.com and blogger, just to name a few of the potential places to have your content generating more traffic for you.

In the cross promotion section, you should mention that as a blogger you should be part of MyBLogLog, BlogCarnival and BlogCatalog communities so that you can find other bloggers who talk about similar topics. In this way, you can comment on their articles and in return, you will find a great number of them who will come and comment on yours!

In any case, I recommend that people keep up to date on what is going on by listening to my hit show: Blogging With Micheal on BlogTalkRadio, where I talk about the latest in the world of blogging and social media: http://blogtalkradio.com/michealsavoie

Next show is Tuesday at 11AM Eastern.

Onlywire

Thanks for a very useful post. I recently submitted my RSS feed to several RSS aggregator sites. Do you know whether Onlywire would: duplicate what I've already got set up, or interfere with it?

Great Information

Thanks for the great post. I also use the methods described, and it makes a big difference when your optimized and using the proper tools.

I also found a way to add pinging services to my blog, (when ever you post in your blog it will ping out to about 20 services that will crawl your site and report back to the search engines)but this is only if you have a word press blog hosted through GVO that I know of.

So if you have word press hosted on GVO contact me, and I can show you how to set it up. If you don't have GVO and are interested, again contact me, and I can help there as well.

Good Article

Your article is very to the point and easy to read. I like that because I try to read valuable content every day, yet have to be careful not to spend too much time.
Keep it up and see you at the top!

Link Exchange Services

I like what you said here I also use link exchage services there are also free ones too. The one I am currently using does not allow any new customers at least at this time. You can search Google for some though.

Thank You Ket

Thank you Ket for the great information! The only thing I would add that I heard mention of in a training earlier this year, Is for marketers to be careful of how many sites their sending the same article to at one time because google may take it down as soon as they put it up? This is not my area of expertise, so has anyone else heard of this? Thanks.

Your Blogging content...

Ket, You and I both hit the same topic at about the same point in time. I just posted this blog post here http://www.linusruzicka.com/blog-marketing-strategy-generate-more-traffi...
And created a Forum topic about it here on BetterNetworker which is generating some additional ideas on creating more blog traffic - http://www.betternetworker.com/forums/main-mlm-discussion-f2/generating-...

While your post is general to overall traffic, mine is geared more for generating more traffic via comments.

Maybe we should combine the two ideas for one overall strategy!

Syndicate Your Blog

Ket-Sang, bonjour from France

A good clean introduction to some of the very many ways to improve awareness of your blog. I'm sure you are aware that there are many, many other ways... and I'm not going to hi-jack your post by writing a dissertation.

Just 2 points to add...

1. If you're serious about your blog, get your own server - don't use free blog hosting - you want some "Business Security".

2. Syndicate Your Blog. Join a syndicate that will submit your blog posts to the various social networks like Digg, Mixx and Social Media (many eyeballs). Then garner comments, votes and shares on your submissions from amongst the Syndicate's members... in the eyes of the search engines this will add authority to your posts, the search engines love authority.

In my Syndicate there are presently over 700 members... can you imagine what sort of effect having so many people vote, share, bookmark and comment can be on a blog?

Blog Testing

I've just done up my blog and I not sure whether I did it right, the first part of my blog is the MLSP intro http://www.affiliategive.com and the second part is about the training http://www.affiliategive.com/training

Hope I can get some comment from you guy that I can further improve my blog to bring in more traffic.

Your advice is appreciated.

Thanks.

Syndicate your content

Good strategies here, I also have to agree with my syndicate partner Kevin Phoenix as well. If you're gonna use all these strategies why not do it in one place, makes things a lot easier.

Content Duplicity w/Google

I have a question about posting a blog in various blog communities:

Doing as recommended here, would that not create content duplicity. In other words, it's ok for google to see the same blog post in different areas?
