Nope, I can't write. Yup, you can !
I challenged her to try this simple exercise and she agreed.
Step #1: Pick a topic – say something simple like MLM.
Step #2: Without thinking too hard list 20 words that instantly come to mind when you think MLM. Don’t analyze, just write down whatever pops into your head.
Step #3: Now take the first word and write a sentence about that word. Now take the second word and in a sentence tie it to the second word. Now the 3rd word and tie it to the second word.
Her list looked like this:
MLM
Home based
Extra income
Single moms
Part time
Computer
Vitamins
Health
More Money
Freedom
Holidays
Quit work
Beaches
Training
Teamwork
Relief
No debt
New house
New car
Travel
Rat race
Commuting
Now string the words together:
Multilevel Marketing (MLM) gives everyone the opportunity to earn extra income and is especially suited for single moms who can only work part time.
The kids are in bed and moms can turn on the computer and build a business right from her kitchen table. Joining a vitamin company makes the most sense to her as her children’s health is extremely important.
This particular mom is already buying vitamins for the kids so she thinks she might as well buy from herself, making more money when she tells others of the benefits of a good vitamin. Focusing on a goal of freedom to take holidays whenever she feels like it and quitting work allows her to dream of beaches, sand and sun !
The training focuses on activity and teamwork is giving her the self-confidence she needs to get out of her comfort zone and learn new things
The average network marketer knows the relief that comes from no debt and owning a new house and a new car.
Travelling to meetings with new prospects is a joy when she is not commuting to a 9 to 5 job and the extra effort required to get out of the rat race is something she embraces.
Could this blog be longer? Does it tell a story? Could people relate to this single mom’s story? Was it difficult to string those words together? Could anyone write this way?
Can anyone now tell you that they can’t write?? Give them this exercise and to eliminate any additional fear, have them record the sentences as if they were speaking to someone and then they can transpose their thoughts onto paper.
Works like magic and it’s an incredibly easy tool to share with those who tell you “I can’t write!”
To your success,
