Would Super Mario Be A Super Blogger?

Super Mario

The Idea Just Came To Me

When I am playing video games with my two kids, my mind is always thinking out of the box.  I am trying to make people think differently of a topic that is written about time and again.  It was another snow day and we had a Nintendo Wii marathon.   After playing Super Mario Bros., we then moved on to Mario Kart.  After Mario Kart, I decided to take a break and watch my kids play Mario Galaxy.  As I was watching the kids play the game, I was trying to come up with different content to write about.  Then it hit me, what about Super Mario!  He has had enough adventures to create a pretty interesting blog for himself.

Save The Princess!
When creating a blog for the first time, you need to set some goals. For your blog to work, you need to see where you are going to be in 90 days. I like to break my goals into 90 day periods just as the video games goal is to save the Princess.  My personal blog was created as a way for me to reach out to network marketers struggling and offer ideas that may help them succeed.  Just like Mario and Luigi’s goal in each World was to get to the next World.  My goal is to create a following, by adding educating content each time I write.  This will draw more people to my blog.  After 90 days my goal as the teacher is to be working with more people and as the student to be educated in areas where I need help.  If Super Mario was blogging, each entry would describe his last adventure and his goal would be writing about how he rescued the princess.

Four Decades of Adventure
Your topics are really important and make sure it is something you really love to do.  The Mario Bros. have been around since the early 1980’s when Mario was known as “Jumpman” when he debuted in Donkey Kong, he was once the antagonist in Donkey Kong Jr., the racecar driver in Mario Kart, travels to outer space in Mario Galaxy, and his many adventures with his brother Luigi in the Super Mario Bros. games, you have many options and this is a good thing.  Super Mario would just have to narrow down to his favorites.  A popular topic would be Super Mario’s current adventures in Super Mario Bros. and Mario Galaxy 2.  You really have to stick with the material you are using.  Mario is blogging about his current adventure; it is not a good idea to jump to his experience on Mario vs. Sonic the Winter Olympics.  Once you have your audience, try to exceed what you have written about previously, not confuse them.

Always Ready For The Next Adventure
Now you are blogging away, just like Super Mario, and you need to build your audience.  You will want to be seen.  Social networking sites are great ways to be noticed.  This will open the doors for you to build that audience using Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.  Super Mario is placing his material on these social networking sites and decides to create a fanpage of his blog and this will attract more people that would be interested in his adventures.  You can record a short video giving a brief description of your blog entry and using video sites like YouTube to broadcast your video.  Another option is participating in social bookmarking through sites like StumbleUpon and Digg.

WOW, Super Mario’s blog is flowing, traffic is increasing, connections are being made through comments.  Comments are great, it gives you the opportunity to connect with others and check out what your audience is blogging about.  You want to keep everyone happy, so continuously update your blog.  The last thing you want is for your blog to go stale.

Go For It
You should always look for ways to make your blog better.  There are many different plug-ins to give your blog a better look.  If you are not sure, as your making relationships and meeting other bloggers, reach out and ask for help.  If Super Mario wanted to change up his blog, he could ask Link from The Legend of Zelda, who added a new theme and a couple of new plug-ins.  It really does not matter if your been blogging since the beginning of time or a newbie, reach out for help, it is easier than you think.  You want to always to keep that connection with your audience.

Look at the longevity of the Super Mario franchise, it is now in its fourth decade.  Many of us were  kids when the first game was released.  Many of us are now adults and we have our own kids and Super Mario is still as popular as it was in the 1980s.  The brand always stayed the same but was able to take risks that have paid off.  You will need to write like that your blog, your brand is what is going to keep people coming back.  You just have keep it real and have fun.
