content for your blog

Yesterday, I wrote about how to get people to your blog and keep them there. It is one thing to get traffic to your site. It is quite another to keep people coming back. The primary way to do this is with great content. Lately it seems as though finding content continuously has been a challenge for some of my students. Today’s post will cover some guidelines to create compelling content and then we’ll talk about where to get ideas for content for your blog. In order to create magnetic content for your blog, you need to solve some problems. If your target market is people who travel frequently, you need to create content that talks about travel destinations; ways to find discounts or that gives reviews of various locations. You might even review timeshares. If your target market is network marketers, create content that talks about how to generate more leads, earn more money, and sponsor more people. Look at the problems of your target market and solve them.

Keyword Research - How It Relates To Content For Your Blog

I am a reformed keyword research girl. I used to not do it, and write based on what was on my mind. I still write whatever is burning at the time, but I also do my keyword research as well. You want to write content for your blog based on what is being searched for. Use a free tool like Google Adwords to conduct keyword research for your niche. If only 5 people per month are searching for the keyword ‘travel to Antarctica’, it is an ABSOLUTE waste of time to write content with that keyword. There isn’t enough traffic. If, however, you find that there are 1500 searches per month for a specific keyword, then that’s a good one to rank for. Nuts and bolts – do your keyword research.

Sources for content for your blog

A blogger should ‘NEVER’ be lost for words. With that in mind, I’m going to share with you some of my favorite content-generating sources.

  1. Visit other ‘niche’ blogs to get content for your blog. I talked about this in a previous post that I did on finding content. This continues to be one of my best sources. Bookmark blogs that you get good content from or subscribe to their RSS Feed. You can establish a separate email account for this, so that when you’re having trouble coming up with content on your own, you can visit these other blogs to see what they are talking about.
  2. Internet Hot Topics is a GREAT source for content for your blog! Yahoo has a ‘trending now’ section. Alexa.com has a ‘hottest pages' section. Look at what’s hot on the internet when you’re writing your post. You can use the subject and relate it to your niche. Lots of people did that when the rumor hit that Jon Bon Jovi died. His photo has NOTHING to do with this blog post, but it's a hot topic still... and free traffic.
  3. content for your blog

  4. Hubspot.com sends oodles of yummy content for your blog! I get eBooks FULL of great content. You can have content for days and days! Sign up.
  5. Subscribe to niche newsletters to get content for your blog. No need to expand here. This is just like visiting other blogs in your niche. Subscribe, get newsletters, get content.
  6. Partner with a PLR service to provide content for your blog. Original content is ALWAYS best. However, if you’re short on time or inspiration, or both, using PLR is the solution here. Since my target market consists of internet marketers and network marketers online, I use the MLM PLR store. You can search their library of content and then rewrite it to suit your needs.

There is enough information available that finding content for your blog should be the LEAST of your concerns. Whether you find it on the internet or in the library, there are more than enough sources for you to get content for your blog. If you like this content, share it on Facebook and Google+.
