“How To Convert The Clicks” – Increase Conversions
Learning how to increase conversions is often more about what you take away rather than what you add. Compare what you’ve said in your ad copy to what you’ve said on your landing page. Saying the same thing is exactly how to convert the clicks.
Powerful Ad Copy
Everyone who’s ever placed an ad has also wanted to increase conversions. The use of powerful ad copy should do both.
Maybe it’s an emotional trigger or a silly rhyme but whatever compels people to select your ad is the same thing that will convert the clicks. Sound confusing? Let me explain.
When it comes to understanding the ratio between those who’ve looked and those who’ve committed, the question is:
“If they were interested enough to follow the ad, why didn’t they… (opt in, buy, reply or whatever you were hoping they’d do).”
Lost In Landing Land
I just made that up but some landing pages are so chock full of facts, testimonials, links, affiliate offers or other general clutter that it feels like you landed on Oz.
Most of the time you just want an email address. Sadly it only takes 5 to 7 seconds to distract someone enough so that they’ll never figure that out.
Take a look at some of your landing pages and ask yourself, ‘If all I knew was what the ad told me, would I know what to do in just a few seconds of arriving here?”
Something Familiar
How comforting is it to find something familiar? When you’re really lost there is no comfort like it.
People that are posting ads have usually defined the niche they want to scratch and know exactly what to say. What they need to do is say it again.
Let me say it again.
If you’ve carefully chosen something to say in your ad, say it again on your landing page. Say it with the exact same words and you’ll increase conversions.
Scary and Unfamiliar
How quickly would you want to get out of there? People don’t like scary and unfamiliar no matter how bold and daring they are.
Bold and daring people are great to have in business no doubt, but they also make decisions very quickly and human nature avoids discomfort.
Wise advice to anyone in a relationship is to count their words. When we start to multiply words not only do we raise the risk of being offensive, but we increase the likelihood we’ll be misunderstood.
Every Word Counts
Every word you add to your landing page increases the time stamp from when someone clicked to get there, to when they click again. The longer it takes the harder it becomes to increase conversions.
I’m not saying that you don’t need more words on the page or that you can’t have more content below the fold. Just make sure you have another opt in at the bottom of the page.
I am saying that if they understand what they’re supposed to do quickly and painlessly, then your landing page didn’t get in the way of the process.
