Is Youtube Stealing Your Traffic?

One of the biggest mistakes that marketers make today is hosting their landing page videos on YouTube.  Even some very highly compensated marketers make this deadly mistake.

You see, they know that they will get your traffic if you embed their video on your site.  Today people are very “click happy”.  If someone should click on your video on your landing page and it’s hosted on YouTube they will be taken away from your page and onto Youtube.

There is not a re-direct feature you can use to re-direct back to your landing page.  Guess what? YouTube just stole your traffic.

So what is the solution?

Well, there are several solutions.  You could get an account at Amazon EZS3 and host your videos there.  I have to warn you here, if your not too technical, your going to have a hard time getting your videos hosted here. Trust me, I have tried.

The solution for me and many other marketers has been Viddler.  Viddler allows you to redirect the click back to the landing page where they are, rather then back to Viddler and off of your page.

Right above where it says "Permalink" is where you would change your URL in Viddler. That box sits to the right of your video on the site.

So there you have it.  Why give away the traffic you fight so hard for?  Now, go make it happen!
