"Cash-Flowing" Your Marketing - Open The Valve For A Stream Of Leads & Sales By Building A Smarter Funnel

It's true...
With the Internet you can turn dreams into reality.
With little or no start-up you can monetize a website, social site, blog or video.
With a bull's eye idea you can snowball a Google ad into momentum on a couple hundred bucks.
These are just a few of the ways you can start cash-flowing dreams online...
"Building a list" of loyal fans who buy from you over and over again.
But building a valuable email list & profiting online won't just happen.
Those with LOTS of leads & sales get there by focusing on 2 things:
- Setting-Up a Well Thought-Out Marketing Funnel, and
- Continually Adjusting It to Maximize "Value Given & Money Received"
In short, successful people focus on the structure of their business to optimize cash-flow.
But here's the key point to let soak in early:
Unless you're OK with the "slow & hard way" it's time to get very specific on how you plan to implement your online intentions.

Whatever Your Intentions...
Whether you want to build a profitable email list, start a business, generate money from a site or blog, build a network marketing organization, start a non-profit, monetize video, turn a hobby or passion into income (out of a love for landscaping, music, cooking or cars...), consult, coach, teach or train--Anything you want to do or sell online...
Even if you're still trying to figure out WHAT that might be...
This article helps make it real by focusing you on what matters most...
The Structure Of Your Marketing Funnel (this IS your business!)
By shaping your intentions into a highly organized structure you can transmute dreams and practically anything into REALITY.
And that, right there, is why most people don't make it very far.
They don't focus on sketching out a structure that could ever possibly take them where they want to go.
I see this most from affiliate marketers and network marketers -- Naturally, they're just told what's needed to sign 'em up ... not what it takes to go all the way.
But networkers & affiliates aren't the only ones wandering and wondering.
Most are so busy looking for short-cuts they end up in the "sticker bushes" half the time.
Some people have the right idea, but end up bumbling through the same 'type' of activities that would have brought big results if only they had sketched out their cash-flow model FIRST.
This explains why a ppc ad, follow-up email campaign, blog, website or face book comment can be a belly flop for one person but highly profitable for someone else.
The difference is in the level of planning & structure that went into it beforehand!
And look, it doesn't have to be complicated. One of my first 'cash-flow' model sketches that led to 4.2 million in 2 years, was on 3 white boards. I didn't erase it 'til I nailed it. Those white boards guided everything I did for those two years.
We're digging down to the foundational secret today...
Understand the "Cash-Flow Model" & Focus Entirely On Yours
Because then...
- You'll always know how much an activity is worth to you.
- Each resource & tool you employ will fit into a "cash-flowing" structure that exchanges value for money.
- You'll know if an affiliate program is right for you, and if so, exactly where it fits into your model.
- You'll literally appear (and actually become) "smarter" -- You'll certainly be more valuable. People will pursue you for your knowledge even if you didn't originally intend to profit from consulting or training.
Basically, you'll know what you're doing, with clarity.
Because you'll be making your dreams tangible from the get-go.
You'll be giving your plans physical form.
Does any of this sound familiar?
It should!
This is the same 'fool-proof' methodology taught by Napoleon Hill in his infamous book, Think and Grow Rich, which has helped create success for literally millions of people.
Applying "Classic Principles" Online...
Published in 1937, it was written more than a half a century before the Internet even existed, but it's still referred to today as the definitive practical guide to 'making big things' happen.
I'll show you how to apply these principles online, just as I have. To generate more leads & cash-flow--for whatever it is you're trying to do.
But only if you'll agree to approach the steps pragmatically (i.e. in a well planned, linear direction).
I'm not suggesting emotions aren't involved in the process of success... on the contrary...
You'll want to firmly grab a hold of your psychology so you can more effortlessly pass through the challenges along the way.
But what we're talking about now is a linear approach to building this out... a process that brings ultimate clarity to your days, every day. With the emphasis on producing cash-flow.
- Are you ready to create a structure that can cash-flow your dreams and intentions... whatever they may be... not just NOW but even as your plans change in the future?
- Are you ready to move in a straight line?
- Are you ready to have so much clarity you can confidently show others how to do the same?
If so, we're going to focus on duplicating the "models of success" that should be duplicated while leaving out what should never be 'canned.'
By the way, don't be fooled--
A "customizable" lead generation system is not gonna' cut it... not even close.
It's time to ensure you get what you want.
Here's how we'll approach it:
There are different "illustrations" and "concepts" we'll look at FIRST to establish a framework so we can clearly discuss what you need to do, and WHY it's so important you do it THIS WAY.
They are:
- The Marketing Funnel, Pipeline, and Flow-chart structures
- Putting the Puzzle Pieces Together - If it doesn't fit, forget it!
- Finding Sweet Spots -- Maximum cash-flow received for value given
- The Shopping Experience -- Learning from the funnels all around you
- Analogy to Building a Dream Home -- Would you forget the front door?
You're probably 'somewhat' familiar with the first illustration (below).
It's the basic marketing funnel, and even though it's just a piece of your overall cash-flow model, it's a BIG piece.
Take a quick look at it.

The "funnel" is a way to STRUCTURE all interaction that takes place between you and your prospects and customers.
Your funnel is how you generate leads.
It's also the sequence in which you present your content and offers to generate sales.
It's also HOW you frame your offers to maximize revenue (how high or low you price something, and what you 'say' about your product in the copy to build its value).
People enter at the top of the funnel from social media, PPC advertising, a blog or website, SEO and/or other types of marketing you do.
As new "prospects" and recent customers start making their way into and through the funnel, they become more qualified to receive additional 'offers' as they continue to progress down through the narrowing cone-shaped structure.
As they move through the funnel, they are being 'taught' why they should buy from you. Those who appear out at the end of the funnel are your most loyal customers and fans (who have paid you the most and thus received the most value-benefit).
What's a "Smarter Marketing Funnel?"

The term "Smarter Marketing Funnel" refers to what happens if you commit to this process over time, starting with the right foundation. It becomes extremely fun and lucrative... building bigger with every passing month.
The "Smarter Marketing Funnel" is the process of constructing a marketing funnel with the "cash-flowing sweet spots" held at the front of your mind -- Keeping it in mind as you do 'stuff' day to day.
For example, if you sit down to network on facebook, you'd know exactly which "cash-flowing sweet spot" you're working on when you comment on something.
When a new opportunity suddenly presents itself (for example, a news event related to your industry, or someone says something on Twitter) you know how to frame your response so it 'connects' to your funnel optimally.
You'd know how your next blog post or web page fits PERFECTLY into your funnel, like a puzzle piece representing both money (to you) and relevant value (to your audience)... leading people to yet the next phase of the funnel...
You'd know how to frame an email you're sending out today to promote a new affiliate product... but keeping it totally relevant so it actually moves people closer to YOU and not just to the person you referred them to!
When you're clear about your model, this all just becomes automatic and fun for you. You feel in control because you ARE.
Are you starting to see how valuable this can be?
How it can change EVERYTHING?
It can only happen if you start sketching it out with the necessary components in mind. That's what we can do together if you'll take the time.
It will make PPC, SEO, your blog, website, lead capture page, emails--whatever methods you use--work.
Because there will be structure ensuring it works.
If you ever wanted to know the 'true' rarely described secret about making Seven Figures on the net (in network marketing, or something completely different--like selling your own clothing brand or building your coaching clientele) I'm laying this out for you in great detail.
And even if your financial goals are much smaller, this is the shortest path, for obvious reasons.
Clarity.
Having a "smart" marketing funnel means you become smarter about business, immediately.
That's what clarity can do to a person.
You'll even sound smarter.
Because it means you'll always know "what's up" when you communicate to your audience.
You'll feel more confident, which is magnetic and just compounds the positive momentum.
It means you're able to generate consistent and predictable revenue, which you increases over time with the increased cash-flow coming in (a smarter funnel requires you invest a large percentage back).
You'll be able to use the cash-flow to increase your marketing and ad budget. That marketing and ad budget will increase your cash-flow.
It's compounding. It's precision.
This is the most important part of your business.
Heck, this IS your business!
But it's far less likely to ever happen unless you focus on sketching it out.
The Pipeline Model....

We can also refer to this structure as a pipeline--As if it's carrying your prospects through a series of 'segments' allowing you to hold their attention long enough to "teach them" why and how they should buy from you. You'll decide WHEN they buy. You'll direct them. You must get comfortable with telling your prospects & customers what to do.
The funnel and the pipeline examples provide us with a framework to dissect and discuss how to communicate with your audience, and how to 'organize' your business so it works for your customers and for you.
You may want to read this next paragraph several times. Then get a drink of water. Then read it a few more times. Seriously...
Your "intensity of focus" on your funnel (or pipeline) determines the level of your success and the speed at which you attain it. It determines your efficiency. I just told you how to get more done and still have a life.
This is your life's work--your dreams being built into reality.
It's worth spending some serious "thought-time" on, do you agree?
Without structuring "whatever" it is you're doing into an intelligently designed "flow" that moves people from one end to the other, considering every millimeter of their journey, you cannot optimize your efforts and investment.
You'll have leakage, or worse yet, you might have an entirely missing segment altogether, which means your business is absolutely broken.
The Flow Chart Illustration...

The 3rd model you'll see illustrated at times is called the Flow Chart.
To your right is a crude example of what that might look like.
You'll want to use this model at times when sketching out your funnel as well.
Each of these 3 models (the funnel, pipeline and flow-chart) allow you to 'simplify' how you think about your business so you can start 'seeing it' as a sequential, tangible thing to influence... much like a driver might do, hands in control of the steering wheel.
That's literally what it starts to feel like.
Do what I'm teaching you here, and you can make things happen just as you want them to happen, over and over again.
All Activity Fits Into A Bigger Picture That You Must See BEFORE and WHILE You're Building Out Your Business!

Once you start getting the basic pieces of your funnel and cash-flow model sketched out and start building them out, which I can assist you with over time, you'll start looking at new pieces of information you receive (new tools, strategies, etc) as puzzle pieces.
That's when cash-flow really starts to accelerate because it becomes more and more clear what is needed next to give business an immediate boost.
That's when things get really fun!
"How To Stand Out From Everyone Else & Literally Give Yourself A Raise Over & Over Again"
Your Business Is "The Process Of Finding the Sweet Spots...
In the beginning your funnel starts crude and simple.
Then you make it better... Continually improving every piece of it, narrowing your focus onto "developing out" your value-return sweet spots.
These "sweet spots" are the independent segments within your funnel where the value you're able to give (your time, content, communications, offers) Maximizes ROI (your return on investment).
So...
Value Offered + Maximum Money Received = A Sweet Spot
These "sweet spots" should also fulfill you, which means your values, personality and interests are woven into the offers you create, emails you write, and marketing practices you use.
Make it your business to create more and more "sweet spots" within your funnel; and to improve ones you already have.
Everything you do for your business--every plan or idea you pursue--should find its place into this focused goal.
If you don't focus on developing 'sweet spots' you'll become frustrated, exhausted and overwhelmed.
You'll end up giving too much of yourself away (your time, investment, everything) while getting too little back... stunting your ability to give and receive enough to continue on, or to accomplish anything near what you could.
Before I write an article, or make my next blog post, or spend 5 minutes on Facebook, or set up my next PPC campaign, I've already considered where that investment fits into my funnel, and how it impacts cash-flow.
Without constructing and considering the effectiveness of each 'section' within your funnel, you cannot assess your productivity and thus you can't build a thriving business or long-term residual income...
- Not by monetizing a website, blog or video,
- Not with marketing a traditional business,
- Not with affiliate marketing.
- Not in network marketing (even the old-school'ers have highly evolved 'offline' funnels... "non-leaders" fill up the room and hand out the leader's materials... think about it! Leaders don't just sell company products or the opportunity... they personally brand themselves by selling their own training materials, classes and more--distributed by the non-leaders and beginners--that's a carefully orchestrated funnel rarely taught to be duplicated. Interesting, eh?)
A heightened level of clarity on which actions bring results and cash-flow is what separates the successful people from those who aren't successful in any business.
To have this you must first have clarity on your structure (your cash-flow model).

Even if you've never heard of IKEA, the famous home furnishings store, you've likely sat in one of their chairs or sofas. Because IKEA stores, and the things they sell, are everywhere.
Their success is entirely due to their focus on their marketing funnel.
Strolling through an IKEA store is the physical equivalent of moving through an online funnel. At IKEA you literally walk past upsells, downsells, funded proposals... on a carefully crafted path leaving little to no choice but to participate in the buying process.
While every store, even your local super-market, demonstrates "the funnel" (like the magazine & candy rack strategically placed at the check out counter), IKEA is over-the-top good at it.
When you walk into an IKEA you're first guided into the furniture 'showroom', where they display lots of furniture combinations to excite your imagination - This is where you're able to SEE how your new furniture might look in your home. They are teaching you how to CONSUME their product.
You can and should apply these same 'teaching' elements into your own marketing funnel to significantly increase purchasing.
Always Tell Your Prospects Where To Go Next & Exactly What You Want Them To Do...

When you are ready to buy your furniture (and even if you decide not to), you must then pass through their "Upsell & Downsell" areas where they entice you to pick up accessories: Lamps, dishes, office stuff, etc.
The store is designed so you can't just turn around and walk out the same way you came in. There are giant arrows along the floor to make sure you know which direction you HAVE to go.
IKEA is not uncomfortable telling you EXACTLY what they want you to do.
You must also get comfortable with directing your prospects and guiding them step by step through your funnel.
Low-End Funded Proposal...

But wait, there's more (LOL--Remember the Ginsu knife commercials)?
You may have gone to IKEA for furniture, but you end up having IKEA Swedish Meatballs and cake! And it's surprisingly good.
IKEA parks their giant stores at locations where you'll find a condensed population working nearby. That's not by accident.
The store prices their food "low" but offers an arguably high quality selection compared to what you'll find at the 'shopping mall' restaurants in the area. This attracts people on their lunch break who then move through the upsell & downsell process on their way out!
This is an example of a low-end funded proposal, a strategy you've seen many times whether you were aware of it or not. It's commonly used by online businesses to attract customers (initially with a low-cost very appealing offer) to the more expensive purchases. A funded proposal helps you break-even on marketing and overhead expenses so when you sell your 'real' items, your profit margins are higher.
You can use a funded proposal to build your email list a lot faster by basically letting the lower ticket item 'fund' your marketing. This obviously makes a world of difference when purchasing advertising and can make or break a business by itself.
We'll have time to talk a lot more about the funded proposal strategy (and all of these strategies) and give ideas on how to include this in your funnel in the Webinar Series.
Learn From the Stores You Shop At, & Any Online Funnels You Find Yourself In...
As you go about your day-to-day life, online or off, I want you to start paying really close attention to the funnels you're in. Learn from them. Become 'tuned' into the economy all around you and you'll automatically become more influential.
Prepare & Plan "As If" You're Building A Dream Home...

Most people starting a business online are missing key components that make it impossible to prosper. Why isn't their business as important to them as their home?
Would you forget the windows if you were sketching out the design of your home? Would you accidentally end up with a front door just two feet tall? Probably not.
You'd make sure the plans were up to par. Nothing would be left to chance. Every 'component' of your home would be considered, planned, drawn, then carefully measured and implemented. Then the finishing. Then the furnishing. Sequential. Thorough. Logical.
Yet most people starting a business aren't approaching it in the same 'clear-minded' way. They 'romanticize' it... maintaining some sort of suspended dreamy inertia interrupted by random acts of desperate effort.
It's painful to watch.
Because I've been there.
The lack of results generated from such a state puts a person on an emotional roller coaster with the high's and low's comparable to a drug addiction (physically it is quite similar). When they feel "up" they feel courage taking random stabs at working on their business. Of course, when frustration sets in by the lack of results, their roller coaster dips down... they feel bad and fear failure. What a ride!
Once they consciously recognize how much this 'immature' approach to business is costing them, they either quit or go to the next level of development, where they DECIDE to approach the process pragmatically.
This is when they realize, if they ever realize, their role is to construct something specific.
Connecting Dreams To Reality...
Once you've outlined your cash-flow model, you'll start becoming acutely aware of every aspect of your business.
You can then "size up" the profitability potential of your marketing activities, ideas and any new opportunities.
You literally fall in love with working your business because you see it as a living breathing "process" of making dreams and ideas come true... it becomes tangible. It becomes Real.
The result that follows -- cash-flow -- is what makes it GROW!
How different would you feel if you could actually set a target income goal and then hit it? Each time!
That's what I do, time after time.
You can do it too.
Be patient. Stay engaged. See the process through. Sketch it out rough and then keep perfecting it... each time increasing your cash-flow and level of influence over what you make going forward.
THAT is your business.
Start drawing it out in detail now! And never stop.
Of course, this article is just the beginning to helping you do that.

That's making it real!
Mike,
What a well thought-out post! It's not often that I run across an article of this length, and depth, that holds my attention the way this one did.
Thanks so much for taking the time to expand on, and explain, the thought process that goes into developing the "funnel" in a way that actually makes sense.
Have a GREAT day,
Warren
P.S. I had to "Facebook" this one!
Systematic And Deliberate...
Hi Mike,
I love the way you laid it out there. How you should actually put thought into how your content dove tails with your funnel. Focusing on every element.
Even before I got into marketing I knew what Ikea was doing in their stores. They make no effort to hide it. And it's fun to go through it with the kids touching and playing with there stuff. Getting a hands on education about what there stuff will do for me and how it makes me feel. When the kids are happy I'm happy and Ikea Knows this.
I did an interview with Jim Yaghi the other week and something he said really made sense and kinda relates to what you said about paying attention to the funnels we're in. He said to "look for marketing in everything." Whether it's reading a fiction novel, the preacher in the pulpit on sunday, what ever.
Think about why he's popular. Why I like this character and not this one.
It must be the compounded effect or something but now when I watch ads on TV (I actually watch it for the ads now :) with out even thinking about it I find I'm dissecting each line and placing it into it's formula. Attention, interest, proof (Building desire) etc...
When you see the world like this it really starts to feel very organized and clear in your mind.
You must see the world like Neo in the matrix sees it Mike.
Thanks for this great post mate.
Pete.
P.S. Three clicks across the top...V F T
MAGNIFICENT!
Dear Mike:
Beautifully explained - SO clear and so very helpful.
Right now, there's a lot of confusion out there with all the "promotions" and "launches" going on.
-- Ann Sieg's (new) launch of "The Renegade System" (with Ty Tribble's Blog Course)
-- Mike Dillard's - "What's Working Now"
-- Budd's and Hoverson's "MLM Launch Formula"
-- Katie Freiling's "Unified Tribe" launch
-- Your own - "Marketing Funnel Mastery" - etc.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not that these aren't all excellent (they are) - but with all of them flooding cyberspace at the pretty much the same time - I keep getting the question...
-- "they each sound so good - which one should I GO for"? -- "where is the best investment of my time and money right now"? - etc.
What I see with your "Marketing Funnel Mastery" is this -- you've been able to "stand back" from ALL of these great programs.
You've been able to give us a very BALANCED approach -- a way to see the much BIGGER marketing picture -- not just some vital "parts" of it.
What you're offering is brilliant in my opinion - it's all-encompassing - and it's constantly enhanced with lots of helpful follow-up communication.
And add to this - the exceptional resource - "Renegade Professional" -- we could receive our PhDs in professional marketing! :>)
Bravo - and THANKS!
Appreciate you - appreciate ALL of our industry experts!

I like that you encourage
I like that you encourage observation into a marketing strategy – it really does help to know why your favorite store is constantly having you as a customer. With a little creativity you can also make that favorite store one of yours as well.
