The problem with following the herd is that you don't really know that you are.

Everyone in this industry from the smallest of us to the biggest...we'd like to think of ourselves as "LEADERS". Never followers. But every one of us, in certain aspects, is a follower of the worst kind.

Otherwise the search result pages would not be littered with our dirty, smudged fingerprints. We take one idea that works and then...

brutally rape it to death...

because it worked for one person.

Take for example, the past few months EVERYONE's been saying "Facebook, dude. Facebook there's leads and they're cheap!"

"Facebook? Seriously?" I say.

Mock disbelief. Because I used it for a week last year and over-filled a seminar room with its traffic . But that's because it was the ONLY advertising method that made sense in that market (and i was right). Not because the clones deemed it a good method.

For most of last year, I used Yahoo! to generate traffic and test ads and offers cheaply. I still use it extensively. But what's funny is that whispers came out that Yahoo! was working for MLM terms and people ran to it. Now, prices and competition have spiked to a point where Yahoo's traffic is barely worth the effort in the limited market the clones have flocked to.

So this is my reaction to the news about Facebook PPC:

"Phooey. Not for MLM. You guys are all on it!"

Now let me get off here and innovate rather than replicate. ;)

As I was reading this I was thinking, that doing the opposite of what everyone else is doing has been my meal ticket.It you stick to this way of thinking your low conversion problems are solved. But then if everyone jumps on board with this way of thinking I am going to have to change all of my ads. lol
