Is Article Marketing Still Effective Marketing Or Is It Dead?
I think we have all read many opinions about article marketing. And, you know what, they are probably all true too. Some say they are prehistoric, others, they still have "THE POWER"! After writing dozens and dozens of them, I find myself agreeing with both sides. But, also, whatever side you find yourself on, your opinion may be based on your own personal taste for and feelings about article marketing itself and all that is involved with it.
Writing articles takes work, period. There are many lessons to teach about it. Having good copywriting skills or developing them if you don't, is at the heart of it all. Everything we do online involves writing, unless you are a banner junkie :). By it, we define ourselves as knowledgeable people or just a passing gas. To me, an article is an inflated PPC ad, or a much larger press release. If you can do one, you can do the other. It is about what you say and how you say it, and does it speak to a person's passion?
But Is Article Marketing Dead?
To the person(s) that know how to write and reach their target market, no form of advertising will ever be dead. Why? Because these individuals are entrepreneurs, and they find ways to keep what they are doing alive. They understand trends and move within it to reform, reshape and create business and success. How did those of the Vaudville days survive? They realized that to keep their talent and legacy alive, they had to adapt to the new form entertainment - radio, then to TV, and so on. They learned to reinvent themselves.
I see article marketing taking going through this as we speak. Today, there is a river of spammy, useless, and good for nothing articles on the web, and the time for change has come. Those with the value will survive, and those who don't will go away. It is more than just SEO here that brings in the gold. Social media and personal blogs are identifying the experts and bringing them closer to their clients. The articles are no more islands of their own, but are extensions of the island.
These blogs are what is referred to as nerve centers are those islands. The experts have set up there existance online. They are reachable now, tangible to the customer. These centers become magnets that pull in the traffic by centralizing that "GOOD" content by topic, thus branding the blogger as an expert.
Content has always been king, it is just being redefined as how it will remain king.

Joe Young
