Do you think like a millionaire?
Do you think like a millionaire?
How many of you have heard of the saying: you have to think like a millionaire to become a millionaire? That to me is like saying you have to think like a Doctor or Lawyer before you can become one. Isn’t it more a question of having an interest in becoming something? I have a lot of friends that became lawyers and accountants for the sake of their parents. It wasn’t really something they wanted to become but unfortunately their parents forced them to “make something of yourself”. I can identify myself with the concern, but the end result is not really the solution. That is sometimes why people end up being utterly unhappy with their career.
Choosing a career is a very personal thing. Most people spend two thirds of their life at “work”. If you are not happy at work, chances are that you will not be happy with your life overall. Most of my friends and family, who really enjoy life, are doing exactly what they want to do in life. Some are not really wealthy, but they are extremely happy. This in itself is reward enough. Wealth per say could mean a lot of different things to different people. That I suppose is why there is a saying that “money isn’t everything”.
I do belief that talent helps. If a person has been born with a specific talent to do something, like say being good in sports or could sing really well, this in itself makes it a lot easier to choose what you want to do with your life. Unfortunately for the masses out there it is only a small percentage of people who really realizes their hidden talent. For most of us we tend to go through life without discovering our real talent. In some instances people do know that they have a talent, but for some reason or another there is a hidden obstacle preventing them from utilizing their talent.
Coming back to the point that you have to think like a doctor or accountant: this is where the secret lies. I do belief that anyone could become whatever they perceive to become if only they stick to the basics of learning that particular skill. You have to get someone to coach you in that particular field or direction you want to excel in. It is quite obvious that you have to attend law-school to become a lawyer. Same applies to most other specialized careers.
That is why I belief that there is no “secret” to becoming really wealth or to become a millionaire or even a billionaire for that matter. To me it has nothing to do with “thinking like a millionaire” or “thinking like an entrepreneur”. It is more a case of doing “the right thing”. Now immediately some people will want to know: “what do you mean by”doing the right thing”? Doing the right thing according to me is that the so called “secret” of wealthy people is that they do things. It is of no use to be thinking about being wealthy, you have to do to become whatever you want to become.
Go and have a look at how most of the wealthy people became wealthy: they all have one thing in common – they do things that make them wealthy. Whether it is to study till they reach a certain level of education or learning a skill till they master that specific technique, they stick with it till they reach the point where it all makes sense to them. And that is where the second “secret” lies: to so call: “stick it out” till you reach success; this is where most people fail – they give up too soon; it is unfortunately that not all of us have the ability to keep going no matter what.
A lot of the time we tend to lose heart or we get influenced by others around us that discourage us with words like: “it can’t be done” or “it will never work” or “you are wasting your time”. Remember someone (like your parents for instance) saying: why don’t you get a real job? I’m sure this has happened to most of us at one stage or another. It is one thing to dream about a goal you have and a total other thing to really live your dream. Remember that it is not selfish to reach for your dream and to go all the way to get there. You in actual fact own it to yourself to make sure you reach your destiny.
All of us have the same amount of time in a day. Depending on what we concentrate on for most of that day, will eventually determine where we will end up. If you look at how millionaires spend their time, you will find that they focus on how to accumulate even more wealth. If you sit in front of the TV the whole day, chances are very slim that you will end up wealthy eventually. There are in actual fact a way that you might be able to do just that: sit in front of the TV and at the end of the day, your income had improved dramatically.
