How I Went From a Struggling Marketer to a Marketing Rockstar
So, how's your business going? How would you like to light a fire under your business and explode your bank account?
If you're tired of your struggling in your business, then you need to listen up! What I'm about to share with you was actually inspired by my amazing mentor, Diane Hochman's comment on Facebook, yesterday.
Hmmmm... What did she say?
See for yourself:
Now, before you send me a ton of interview requests (I have a LOT pending right now), please note that this comment was addressed to the members in our private mastermind group ;)
And, as I started getting a LOT of questions about what am I doing now that's attributing to my success, I decided to spill the beans right here so everyone can benefit from my tips.
Let's get started, shall we?
Here are the key traits that have helped me transcend all my initial insecurities as a new, struggling marketer and led me on a wonderful path of success:
1. Change Your Mindset
If you want to have a successful business, then you need to start thinking and acting like a successful entrepreneur. A positive mindset is critical to the success of your business. Period.
If you treat your business as a hobby, then you will not get any desired results. You’ll not have the same results as mine. Here are the questions that you need to ask yourself right now:
- What do I want my business to become?
- What do I want to achieve with my business?
- What steps can I take towards achieving my business goals?
In my case, I went from thinking like a struggling marketer (who had no hope whatsoever) to a successful one. I developed a positive mindset. I had a clear vision of what I wanted to achieve with my business.
Then, I started taking specific action steps towards accomplishing that.
2. Have a Passion
Ever wondered why some people achieve massive success in what they do? What’s the key ingredient? They have a passion. They enjoy what they’re doing and passion is the biggest motivating factor behind their success.
Simply put, if you don’t love what you’re doing then you’re going to find it hard to create the success that you desire.
How big is your 'WHY'? Does it make you cry? If your 'WHY' is big enough, then you'll figure out the 'HOW'.
I wouldn't have gotten far with my business if I didn't have a passion (burning desire) to succeed. It all started with a decision to succeed and my strong passion to make that happen.
3. Marry Success
You need to find people who are already at the level that you want to be yourself and model them. I’m talking about the overall success, income, lifestyle and so on.
What drives them? What makes them tick? What are they doing? What makes them successful?
Find a good mentor. I’m talking about someone who will be supportive, stretch and challenge you and hold you to account and accelerate your personal growth far beyond what you could achieve on your own.
With the right mentor, the sky is the limit! I have witnessed this myself.
Every successful person out there, has or had a mentor to learn from and help them get to where they are today – very powerful.
And, this saying is SO true: “you’re who you hang out with”.
It’s really powerful to see and listen to people who have already achieved what you want. So, you need to grab the opportunities to learn from these people and get inspired to realise your goals.
You can achieve this by reading, listening to audio, watching videos and attending live events.
4. Learn and Implement
As a struggling marketer, with no online marketing experience at all, I had to get the right marketing training to cut my learning curve in half and create success in no time.
So, I put the pedal to the metal, so to speak. I became a student and followed the cutting-edge marketing and mindset training. Most importantly, I implemented the new skills I was acquiring, in my own business.
Truth be told, if you want to learn from the best of the best in marketing and create success quickly, then you need to plug into a training platform. There is no other way around it.
And, here’s what one of my team members had to say:
5. Take Action
Taking action can influence everything you do in life and I’m a strong believer in the saying “massive action = massive results.” This belief has served me well throughout my business and my life.
My family and friends would tell you that “I’m a go-getter and a massive action-taker.”
Now, why do people fail to act?
Most people fail to act because they are afraid of making a fool of themselves. I think you can probably relate to this because we all do it at some point.
A fact is, as a marketer or blogger, you must take action if you want to see results. And it goes for everything really.
Do it NOW!
The best way to implement massive action into your business is by doing something every single day. Come rain or sunshine, spend at least an hour or so a day on your business.
The compounding effect of regular action will soon start to snowball (as it has done for me) and result in massive traffic, leads, sales and recognition for you.
Top leaders worldwide would tell you that taking action is one of the key traits that have led them to success.
6. Be Consistent
While taking action is imperative to reaching success in anything you desire, consistency is key for seeing results.
If you act once then abandon your dreams for the usual excuses we use when we procrastinate you will find it hard to reach the proverbial kingdom of success.
Consistency is what sees you working at night when the rest of the world watches TV. It's what brings results if applied time and again for a desired goal.
Consistency is what led me to reach blogging success, create my own information products and skyrocket my business. It also demonstrates commitment. You earn trust because you’re consistent.
The more consistent you are the more closely people will follow you too. People keep coming back to my blog as they know that I update it regularly and I interact with them. It has become a habit of mine – a good one!
It’s not surprising that one of my followers calls me “Miss Consistency”.
This magic word is really a learned behaviour. "You can learn to be consistent in everything you do by making your behaviour a habit". This is what my professor used to say.
Whether it’s attracting more blog traffic, generating leads or learning about launching a product, unless you apply your actions on a continuous basis you will not be consistent, hence you will likely fail.
The sad part about failing is not failing after you’ve tried something, but failing before you had a chance to find out. Don’t you agree?
7. Be Laser Focused
The huge mistake that marketers usually make is to do everything all at once. The worst thing that you can do to your business is to try EVERY new marketing tool, product, system that comes out, jump ships or even get involved with multiple opportunities at the same time.
Don’t fall a victim of the “Shiny Object Syndrome”, chasing the latest and the greatest shiny objects. How on earth will you focus on your business? This is definitely the fastest way to KILL your business! You’ll get nowhere.
I never take a look at the latest and the greatest shiny objects. Why? I have everything I need to build my business. Focus is so key.
Avoid distractions and stay focused on your goals. Believe in yourself and in what you're doing.

Marketing Your Business
Let's face it, there are a number of marketing strategies to use and you're likely to feel overwhelmed, not knowing which ones to use to see the desired results.
You'll be pleased to know that you don't need to learn and master them all :)
My advice: pick and focus on just ONE strategy that matches your personality, skills, time and budget.
"But wait! I need to do Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Solo Ads, PPC, blogging and everything else!"... I hear you cry!
Remember what I said about F.O.C.U.S.?... Follow One Course Until Successful.
So, don't spread yourself too thin. Focus on just one thing and become good at it, then you can add other strategies to your marketing arsenal. You can't do everything all at the same time and expect maximum results.
I have picked blogging to be my primary marketing strategy. I'm not doing any paid marketing (Facebook Ads, Solo Ads, PPC Ads) at the moment.
Yes, I do use social media to connect with people and to promote my blog.
Blogging for Business
I made a decision to transform my blog, I became determined to learn everything there was to learn about blogging.
So, I started following successful bloggers in my niche to get some ideas. I didn’t mind staying up all night, reading and researching different strategies to use to improve my blog and to share with my readers.
My goal was to spend money and time learning about blogging until I became wildly successful at it.
I'm constantly working on my blog as it's giving me the desired results - tracking my stats and the overall performance as well as improving my conversions. I have been using my blog to attract thousands of visitors, generate leads and make sales EVERY DAY.

Attracting Massive Traffic to My Blog
I have learned how to attract massive blog traffic. Whenever I ask people how they found me, they say "through your blog".
Get this: I don't use any PPC ads to drive traffic to my blog. So, how I do get so much traffic?
Google is my main source of traffic. I keep getting tons of traffic, even to my older posts, EVERY DAY, just because I spend a few minutes researching relevant keywords to use for my content.
It all starts with doing a proper keyword research, creating amazing content and promoting it like there's no tomorrow.
So, what do I do after generating leads? Ah, I'm glad you asked... and the answer is...
Lead Conversion!
One of the reasons why most network marketers fail in their businesses, is that they dont know how to network, they simply cannot connect and they don’t know how to prospect.
Lead conversion is simply the most important part of any business! Let’s face it, if you fail to turn your leads into customers you are wasting your money and your time.
Why market and spend hours on lead generation activities if you can’t convert those leads for your business?
The real work starts with building a relationship with your leads. You must show your leads that you care about them and want the best for them. If you’re not focusing on helping others get what they want, then network marketing is probably not for you.
You need to take advantage of email marketing and build a relationship with your list. The good news is, you don't need thousands upon thousands of subscribers to succeed online. It's all about having a targeted and responsive list. Think quality over quantity.
Anticipating the question: "How often do you email your list?"
Let me hurry to say that I have tried 3 models:
a. Few automated follow-up messages at different intervals and regular broadcasts.
b. Daily follow-up messages and regular broadcasts as recommended by the top leaders.
c. One automated welcome message and regular broadcasts (3 a week, unless there are some announcements or updates).
My list didn't like option b at all. And, to be honest, I personally don't like receiving daily emails from hundreds of marketers - it's overwhelming! Where do you find the time to read them all? So, I went for option c and it's working well.
Anyway....
See how I do it:
Building Your Brand
It’s really important to be yourself. The thing is, people only see you as you see yourself. You are your best self when you are being yourself.
People are searching high and low for an element of personality that stands out from the crowd – you need to give it to them.
So, it’s important to be transparent in everything you put online, written or spoken. I have spent the last couple of years, working on building my own brand and I don't think I have done badly. What do you think?
I have created my blog to build my own brand. There is only one me and I’m using my blog to set me apart and to allow people to connect with me as a real person.
Personal branding is critical when you’re building your business online. People always buy YOU first, then your products or services.
I have built a strong online presence - just google my name! I'm everywhere, literally. People know who I am and keep coming back to my blog to learn more and share with their followers.
Key Takeaway
If you want to see a TREMENDOUS growth in your business and in your personal life, you must acquire knowledge and skills and take ACTION every single day.
Focus on just one marketing strategy and become good at it, then you can add other methods to your marketing arsenal.
You need to find people who are already at the level that you want to be yourself and follow them.
Plug into a training platform, to learn from the best of the best in marketing and create success quickly.
Continue LEARNING, HONING your skills and keep MARKETING!
There you have it - my online marketing success blueprint handed over to you on a silver platter :)
