How to Escape the Riptide in Google:

Most of the time, they are not able to be detected visually and catch most people off guard when they occur.  To survive a rip current there are certain steps you should take:   DO NOT PANIC.  You will not be able to make sound decisions when you do.  And you will end up drowning because you will tire out quickly.   Realize that it is a naturally occurring dynamic force that happens all the time and just let it carry you.
