Is The Network Marketing Business Really About Selling Products?
One of the least understood subjects of the last century has been the network marketing business. For a large part it was confused with pyramid schemes and illegal affairs. The hangover of such scams haunted more people than all the ghosts of Berlin ever could. Then came the die-hard pushy protagonists of the trade. And the network marketing image stepped up to being one of 'desperate cookies selling something high priced'... usually to people who didn't want any of it.
And so, network marketers who got the bigger picture usually had to contend with the mass of smaller networkers who took charge of brand image and swept it into the gutter.
So what is it that the bigger networkers know that needs to be said in the context of the real network marketing business? It is the same as what the bees know about building a beehive. So here we go into the birds and the bees...
When creating a hive what the bees understand intuitively is that they are creating a microcosm for everybody's survival. They do not get into the business of hive-making just to own a piece of real estate. They do not (by analogy) sell product. Rather, what they do is create a honeycomb structure that is strong and capable of withstanding attacks from predators and the wind... and they do this together making it bigger and bigger so that more and more bees with lesser experience can be accommodated and would eventually contribute. They do it with a delayed sense of gratification, since everyone's honey is being used up for sticking the honeycomb together and only once that is done will the entire beehive become the center of buzz that the each visualize.
Taking the analogy back to the network marketing business, this is not about each one selling product to make money. Neither is it about a temporary stacking of people till they all fall down. True network marketing is about building organizations on defined structures with strategies that will create networks which outlast individuals. Networks are assets that will pay (honey) long after their builders are dead and gone.
The role of each networker is two-fold. One is to consume product (be responsible for their own honey). And two is to expand the network, for which a different kind of education and thought process is certainly required. Individuals with large networks benefit all the society they interact with. Just as queen bees (that have been building beehives since long) are in the highest demand across the hive.
So the network marketing business, though deeply reliant products, is not about network marketing products really. It's about creating assets and product usage is the route.
A video I made while on a holiday recently explains more about the role of network marketing products as assets. Do add your comment/s when you watch.
