Can ANYONE Be Successful in Network Marketing?

So I am sitting here in the “smoker’s pit” outside of my class listening to one of my classmates play his guitar.

Recently I asked Brad how long he had been playing his guitare and exactly how hard was it to learn. He then told me,
 
“Well I have been playing three years now, and it was the hardest thing that I have ever had to do. Everyone told me that I would never be able to do it. Some of my friends laughed at me for getting started. Not to mention the pain in my hands from all the playing (followed by a small chuckle)” So I had to ask him, “If everyone laughed at you, why did you keep going”. And his answer was “I knew that if I never gave up, I would be best guitar player in this class (another small chuckle)”
 
I thought to myself, God this kid is brave. I don’t think that I would be able to do what he is doing right now. I don’t think that I could have taken the turmoil of my friends and family not believing in me, especially if I was in his condition.
 
Now the reason why I say that is because my friend Brad has down syndrome.
 
But he never gave up, and write now I am sitting here listening to my classmate play a White Stripes song on his guitar.
 
And not until this very moment did I start to think about how playing a guitar is just like network marketing.
 
Here you watch these great guitarists on TV, and you read these great articles by instructors on the BetterNetworker, and you think to yourself that God these guys must have been born playing the guitar, or God these guys must have been born writing salescopy..
 
When at one point in time they were just like you could be right now.
 
Now some do naturally have some skills that others don’t, but true leadership is made not born.
 
Nearly every single person that puts their mind to rocking out a stadium full of thousands of people (or rocking out their living room with their family :), will achieve it.
 
For some the road to success may be less bumpy than others, but every single person has to travel down that road. Not one person on this social network was born at the end of the road to success.
 
People will make all of these excuses of why they can’t succeed, when in reality the only reason why they are not succeeding is because they are making up excuses.
 
You might be thinking well yeah but playing the guitar is a little different than succeeding in network marketing.
 
Well I’ve got a little story for you!
 
He told me not to ever mention his name, and so we will call him Buddy.
 
Well anyways, Buddy had no business savvy whatsoever. It is questionable whether or not this man understood supply and demand completely.
 
He was not very smart. He did not get the greatest grades in school. He could not get the greatest job after school. He was basically just another man breezing through life on the 9 to 5 shift.
 
But there was one thing..
 
He loved to write. Creative writing was his one and only passion.
 
He could not pronunciate words that well, but boy when he got out a piece of paper, he could make those letters talk.
 
So that’s what he did. He just found a little salespage template and started writing his own salescopy for a couple of small ebooks that he had written.
 
The word started to get out about him writing such powerful salescopy, and people started paying him to write their salesletters.
 
He started making pretty good money off his ebooks, and off of other people’s salescopy, but not enough to quit his 9 to 5 job.
 
After a couple hours of research he came across network marketing. He found some Vitamin Juice MLM that sounded appealing, and decided to give it a shot.
 
He went out to malls, and coffee shops trying to bring in people, but the only problem was people did not really care about what he had to say because he could not talk that well.

He did not generate a single distributor.
 
He failed miserably. I did know him at the time, but from the sound of it, well I don't want to use his curse words on the BN :)
 
But he knew that he could not give up. What would happen if he did? He would be miserable for the rest of his life, and he would always know that he could have made things better, if he just would have put in the work.
 
Bam the big idea hit him.
 
He decided that he needed to make sure that everyone in the network marketing industry saw his great salescopy.
He wrote a small ebook about network marketing and sold it for 10 bucks. The books was not that special and he was not bringing in a massive amount of money selling them that cheap.
 
But now when he talked to people, they remembered how well written his salesletter was, and all of a sudden he had a skill that they desired.
 
There are not a whole lot of people that want to take the time out to learn how to write their own salespages. So now he started using that as a selling point, and people joined.
 
Other people would design websites for him, and he would just put the words on them.
 
He really turned out to be great at network marketing really only being GREAT at one thing.
 
Now if this guy can go out there and make a living in network marketing I truly believe that any one can.
 
Like he showed, it is about putting in the time, aquiring the skills, and rolling through the times even when they get rough.

The road to success is not a flat road, but it is NOT a never ending maze either.
