Why You Must Sit Close To The Treasury

One of the biggest financial Ponzi scheme ever hoisted on this planet was orchestrated by a genius known as Bernard Madoff. He was a one time president of NASDAQ and people trusted him so much that they entrusted their life savings with him.

For over twenty five years,Madoff successfully ran a gigantic Ponzi scheme which his investors did not notice. They trusted him and did not see any reason why they should keep a close watch on him. One morning, they woke up and saw Madoff on their televisions. He had just confessed and was arrested for defrauding his investors of almost all their life savings.

The huge question is not the one the public was throwing at Madoff as to why he would destroy the lives of those who trusted him. The question is what were the investors doing that prevented them from watching their money.

Jesus gave us an insight as to how we must safeguard our finances when he came to the temple in Jerusalem. When he came into the temple,he sat down very close to the treasury box. This meant that he sat down as close as he could to the finances coming into the temple treasury.

A lot of businesses fail because their owners ignore this cardinal rule of business success. You must never be so busy that you leave the financial aspect of your business to another person while you occupy yourself with something else. You must have a relationship with the financial organ of your establishment so as to understand how it is being operated.

No matter how much you trust someone, never give another person total control over your business finances. It does not matter how trust worth that person may seem to you. You must realise that we are all human beings and have our individual elastic limit. Beyond this limit, we may do unbelievable things.

I was in a bus one day when someone was telling a story of how he almost diverted a huge amount of money he was asked to pick up.The owner of the money trusted him so much that he left him to collect money from one of their major customers.

He said that one day he was in a financial fix when, he was asked to go and pick up  a huge amount of money. He said that his mind began to calculate how the money will help solve his pressing needs despite the fact that the money did not belong to him. He did not carry out his plan simply because the money was not sent at the last moment.

Be close to your bankers too so that they can tell you when the bank is going under. Because Jesus was close to the treasury, he would have noticed when there was any strange occurrence around the treasury box.

Secondly,Jesus took note of what each person gave including the widow that gave her last two copper coins. You must know, if possible on a daily basis how much is coming into your coffers. This will help you know who your best customers are.

From his observation point, Jesus was able to observe that the best income of the day came from a woman who gave her last coins. This meant that if in difficulty she could give,then she would also give more in times of abundance. She was Jesus ideal customer.

If you do not keep track of the income from your individual customers, you may think that you are making so much money from a particular customer without knowing that you are running his account at a lose. If you monitor what comes in from each of your customer, you will be able to pinpoint your most loyal customers.

This is a hopeful secret to maintaining your wealth. Never leave another person in charge of your finances without putting in place systems that will give you independent and accurate feed back. If you fail to do this, another Madoff may just come and take away all you labored to build for your self.
