How To Avoid Google Slaps, Suspensions and Disabled Accounts in 2010 and Beyond
Google pay-per-click marketing has historically been one of the most lucrative lead generations methods for network and affiliate marketers. A lot of people made A LOT of money by advertising on Google.
But in 2009, Google lowered the boom. I mean, they changed the way online marketing is now done in these industries. They warned people, in the form of “slaps”, but most didn’t listen and ended up with their account suspended or worse.
But a few, like us survived…. and as usual, it was a result of training and education we received (If you have been reading this blog for a while, you see the recurring theme, right?).
From this training we have learned the keys to staying in Google’s good graces in 2010 and beyond.
The 5 Keys to Marketing on Google Without Incurring Their Wrath
There are basically 5 things you need to do if you want to market using Google PPC in this new era of online advertising:
1. Read Google’s Terms and Conditions
Google spells out everything they expect in black and white, but 99.9% of marketers on Google have never read their Terms and Conditions. I know we never did until recently. But all of their expectations are laid out for you and it should be required reading for all Google marketers going forward.
2. Be Relevent
Google’s main interest is in making the searchers experience a good one. Simply speaking, if the searcher is unhappy then Google is unhappy, and they’ll hunt down and punish the culprit. What does this mean? It means giving the searcher exactly what they’re looking for. It means tricking searchers to click on an ad is very bad policy in 2010. It means not delivering on your promises will get you in big trouble going forward. To stay in Google’s good graces, simply be direct and be relevant by anticipating the searcher’s queries and answering their questions.
3. Be Transparent
Transparency is everything in 2010. Google demands total transparency in your advertising. No redirects that the searcher is not expecting. Also, the Google advertiser must be absolutely transparent in terms of what they will do with the searcher’s personal information. If you have an opt in box, you must tell the searcher exactly why you need it, what will happen once they give it to you, and how they can stop receiving information should they so desire.
4. Be Unique
Company landing pages are out. So are website templates, unless you can customize them to make them appear unique. Google demands unique content in 2010, and will punish anyone trying to use duplicate content. Copying someone else’s content is a double edged sword on Google… not only will it get you suspended, but it may also get the original advertiser in hot water, as well. Be unique in your content if you want to advertise on Google in the New Age.
5. Be Accountable
There’s been a lot of speculations about Income Claims and how they’ll get you kicked off Google. This is not altogether accurate. Income claims can be used, but they must be easily substantiated to be true, such as having a notarized affidavit. And it Google demands proof, you had better be able to provide it. In addition, you must make it very clear that your results are not true of the average consultant or distributor in your business (if that is true). In other words, there will be no misleading the searcher on Google in 2010.
Summary
Google had cleaned up online advertising on their site in 2010 and beyond. Gone are they days of misleading ads, redirected landing pages, and non-relevant offers. In order to advertise on Google in the coming decade, you will need to know all the rules and regulations and abide by them to the letter. You will need to be relevant, unique, accountable, and transparent in your marketing.
By doing so, the upside is HUGE, since Google is still the most dominant search engine on the planet in an age when people are searching for alternative ways to make money in the present economy.
