Personal Branding What's in a name?

Branding is expressing your Image as presented by multi-media. There are many new tools to use to express yourself to allow others to know who you are and what you have to offer; Video websites, networking websites, personal websites, and Blogs just to name a few. The power is in the volume by being able to show yourself to thousands of people in a few places you can find others who are interested in you and the value that you can bring to their lives.

People want to do business with others that they resonate with, people they have things in common with and can relate to. It is only natural to want to work with someone we know, like and trust. Personal Branding is the process of providing the information people need to be able to create a relationship that is beneficial, that will bring value to their lives.

The most important thing to start with is honesty. Just be yourself. If you try to create an Image that is not really you people will eventually realize that you have been deceptive, which will lead to mistrust. If you try to be a different person for different people you will again be found out soon enough. I recommend starting with a values list. Write down the things that are most important to you. What are the things that set you apart from others? How do you want others to see you? As you begin to create videos, audios and ad copy you need to have three elements;1 Distinctiveness, 2 Relevancy, and 3 Consistency.

We are as individuals very distinctive by nature. We were all created with distinct physical, mental, and emotional differences, therefore by being yourself you will be distinct without any extra effort. Next you need to show your value. What benefit do you have to offer others? It is ok to give your assets to show others that you are worthy of their trust. If you are a leader say so, give examples and be honest. How will anyone know about you if you don't let them know? The third element of Personal Branding is consistency. In all of your videos, audios, websites est. always be consistent. Show the same image always. Don't try to impress different groups with a different image that you think they will accept, this will only lead to the destruction of you brand. Always use content that is consistent with your core values and belief system, that way you will naturally attract others that you can have a meaningful beneficial relationship with.

If you will follow these tips on personal branding you will create a brand that will attract the right kind of people that you would like to do business with. You will insure that you can be trusted and appreciated for who you are. This will increase your business and enhance your relationships both in your professional and personal life.
