Basic SEO “Search Engine Optimisation”
SEO Your Web-pages.
There is a commonly misunderstood aspect to SEO.
Search engines don’t actually rank your website as whole, they rank your pages.
This commonly misunderstood concept leaves people believing that if they optimize their website for certain keywordsthen all the search traffic will end up on their home page.
Truth is it’s actually the opposite, the search engines will search out relevant pages, not websites as a whole. Search engines have not been designed to think about entire websites,
they mainly care about pages that are relevant to the keywords being searched.
Keep this in mind when you are optimising your site.
Instead of trying to encapsulate your whole site into a few keywords, think of it in pages break it down into pieces page by page.
This way, each page will rank for a different group of keywords.
Or use a separate page that is focused on the keywords if these are not relevant to the keywords or content on your homepage.

Basic Page Optimization
Google looks for these to identify the theme of a web page:
The Page Title: The page title is the text that you see at the top left hand corner of your browser.
Google uses this “page title” (also known as the title tag) to identify pages and show the users the relevance of the page.
Keep your title tags short & precise, usually between 8-9 words. Every page should have a unique, different, yet relevant page title.
Metadata: Meta tags are not as important as they used to be. “Meta data” is (for lack of a better explanation) information ABOUT information.
When you create a web page, meta data is inserted into the page in a way that makes it visible to the mechanics of the page, but not to the casual web site visitors.
We “The casual visitors” are not concerned with all that “googley-gook,” We just want to see the web page. Meta data includes “keywords,” “description,” “author,” and other stuff.
For Website purposes, we’ll try to help you understand the importance of keywords and description.
At some point in the process of designing and creating your web site, you will be asked to help create a set of keywords and a description.
The reason is because most search engines use that information to index and categorize your web site and your business. Each word is significant.
Metadata helps the google differentiate between different pages.
Be sure to make sure your metadata is specific to individual pages and don’t include any words that are not relevant or related to the text or content on that page.
URL: The URL is your websites actual address “Domain Name”
As mentioned in previous training select your domain name carefully & make sure it fits well with the niche you are targeting.
Text or Content: Keep the content or text of your page relevant to the what you use in your title tag, matadata, and URL “Domain Name” Make sure you mention your keywords in your content as well as other words that relate to the basic theme of each page.
(Keyword density and patterns don’t matter as much these days with google algorithms becoming more intelligent.)
So just write as naturally as you can while fitting all the necessities. “Don’t over do it” Remember you want your readers to remain interested.
DESCRIPTION
This is what you see after you do a search (often referred to as “the hit list”), likely the description that you put into each page of your site. The description and keywords are used by some search engines to see if your site matches whatever it may be that the searcher was looking for.
Here’s an easy way to come up with an accurate “description” for your web site’s main page:
Imagine you have just met someone for the first time, and they ask you, “What do you do?”, what would you tell them?
A description should sum up your business in a comprehensive, concise, and compelling way. For instance, compare these descriptions:
1 – “Business Name” Internet Marketers That Use Attraction Marketing .
2 –“Business Name” Successful Internet Marketing, Dedicated To Educating Our Team In Funded Proposal, Get Paid Today Systems & Attraction Marketing Techniques While Remaining On The Forefront Of The MLM Marketing Industry.
Both of these descriptions are accurate but one is much more compelling and concise.
