Best Keyword Tools: The Key To Internet Marketing Success

 Simple Keyword Research

"He, who controls traffic, controls the keys to the kingdom." Mike Filsame

Keywords: If there is any one factor to attaining internet marketing success, it is traffic. Just as with any traditional brick and mortar business, your online business has the same requirements. If people cannot find your store you have no business. If prospects cannot find your website you have no business.

The internet is a great equalizer – even the inexperienced entrepreneur can compete against multi-million dollar companies. Proper keyword use is what makes this possible. Having a website with state-of-the-art graphics, videos, and excreta is nice; but unless you have prospective buyers visiting your website you have no business.

Best Keyword Tools

4 Key Steps to Keyword Marketing Research

Step 1: Write down as many obvious keyword phrases as you can think of. Now Google each phrase to see what comes up – look at the competition’s keywords. Also how many pay-per-click ads are there. Make a list of the best keyword phrases.

Step 2: The Google Wonder Wheel – take your best phrases from step 1 and use with the Google Wonder Wheel (after you Google a word look on left side of page for "show options". Click on show options & menu will appear on left – look under third subtitle "Standard View" for "Wonder Wheel") to dig deeper for more targeted long tail keywords. When you click on each phrase in the Wonder Wheel a new wheel will appear with related keyword phrases. Save your best phrases from both steps 1 and 2.

Step 3: Use your best keyword tool now to dig down even deeper from your best longtail keyword phrase for your given niche. Depending on the tool of your choice you should be able to find one or two primary keyword phrases, as well as some secondary phrases.

Step 4: Content – take your best keyword phrase to use in your content title, at the beginning of title would be ideal. Use this phrase in the first and last paragraphs, as well as in the middle of your content. Next take two or three of the secondary phrases and use each once throughout your content.

If your content is an article, submit it to the top 20 Article Directories. If your content is a blog or website, bookmark it with the top bookmarking sites.

Which application is the best keyword tool is something that each marketer has to evaluate on their own. Look at several so that you can make an informed decision. Also remember that you don’t have to be found all over the internet – you just want to be found all over your niche market. Proper use of your keyword phrases is what will make this possible.

Always Something To Learn

Thanks David for these simple steps at how to do keyword research. It took me a long time to realize the importance of keywords.

And most beginners have no idea what that really is. However, if all new "smart" beginners had the opportunity of a good online training program such as Renegade University to teach what the really important things to concentrate on should be, their success would happen a lot faster.

Along with good copywriting

Along with good copywriting skills keyword research has to be a close second. This is also my first time hearing about Google wonder wheel I'll definitely check that one out.

I'm glad you brought up the targeted long tail keyword thing, many people don't realize that by going after longtail keyword phrases often times is better than going after the more competitive keywords, thanks for sharing Dr. Enders.

kevin thomas — Thu, 11/26/2009 - 10:51am

Thanks

Thanks Everyone for all the comments. YES as I stated in the article you need good content - something of value - or keywords will only get you short term increase in traffic. Put the two together and you have a winning combination.
