They will perform keyword research to discover what the buying keyword phrases for your industry are and give you a realistic expectation of how you will be ranking for these keywords. Often times you will discover that ranking really high for a less popular keyword phrase will give you better qualified traffic that is ready to buy – not looky-loos.

There's a sucker born every minute! You're so right Dotty, in warning people to be cautious about certain promises that are made by unscrupulous marketing companies.
SEO must be learned and applied and it takes time. And the learning never stops.
Buyer Beware!!
As with everything we as consumers and business owners need to beware of so many different opportunities that say they are here to help. Educating ourselves is always vitally important and doing the research necessary in finding the best solution.
As stated SEO is not static, we personally need to know how and what to do at any time, there is just no EASY BUTTON..

Buyer beware is so true. I get many people that come to me AFTER they made an agreement (usually for a year) and find they regret it. Check out the company and what they are guaranteeing BEFORE making the decision.

There is so much to understand about keywords and keyword research. I like what you write about a service provider "sitting down" with you to analyze and maximize your use of keywords.
Then there is the whole linking strategy to put in place so that your keywords help direct your audience to the opt-in page for an ongoing relationship.

There is not fast and easy way to the top. I agree with Pat about understanding keywords, and keyword research, but having income links from popular sites, and forums is as important.
