How To SEO Your Site With Keywords, 3 Working Tips For Beginners
I have been recently been asked by a few of my readers, on how you can drive traffic to your site using keywords which is done within S.E.O. terms. The answer to that is it is quite simple once you know how, so I have put together 3 tips for any new internet marketer.
Keywords are very important for the search engines to find you and to also work out whether your content fits what's being searched for. Once you have some targeted keywords, you need to know where to put them and not just plaster them all over your content.
Now on some of my posts within this site I always try and make them S.E.O friendly, especially within the title, so this leads me onto my first tip on how to S.E.O with keywords.
1, Where To Put Your Keywords
When you are putting articles together for your site, always try and put that keyword which should be driving traffic to your site within the title, preferably near the beginning. Then you would also try and put it near the start of the body of the article and near the end, and within the middle to. This way, it will allow the search engines the quickest way to work out what your articles are about. Also there are keywords which are called, 'long tailed keywords' not going to go into this much today, but one of my older posts,How To Link Your Facebook & Myspace To Twitter is a great example of 'long tailed keywords'
2, Use Your Keywords In Your Domain Name
In most cases this really should be a must, always try and put a great keyword in your domain name, now my domain name for this site is www.marcjward.com, not very keyword friendly you may say, and yes you are very correct. But now look up in your address bar and see what the page address is, I have keywords with my domain name. This is done with the help of a great plugin within wordpress, but for the purpose of your shop front, (maybe your landing page) here is a great example, if you are a baker in the city of Baltimore, then your domain name should be......baker-in-baltimore.com. This S.E.O. tip was only shared with me a few months back, and it's these little tips that really make a big difference.
3, Pictures With Purpose
One mistake I see a lot is when people put pictures on their site and do not tag them in anyway. If you are unclear in what I mean, when I go and put pictures up I always tag them with keywords in the same way that I would tag a article with keywords. This helps your site get seen in the search engine results too, so do not miss out on more traffic by not tagging your pictures.
In Conclusion
Now these 3 simple steps are great for you to start off with and driving traffic to your site, but remember not to go crazy on that keyword, so for example, your keyword is MLM, you have it in the title, you have it in your first paragraph 10 times, then another 10 times in the body of your article and so on, then you will find the search engines would not touch you with a barge pole!!
Don't worry if you are not getting it from the start, it will all come togther for you if you keep at it, and a great tool to help you with this is called Google Analytics, install this on your site and it will be able to supply you with statistics about your site, and this will arm you with great information on how your site is performing and the direction you should take.
Just to say, I am not a master at S.E.O. not by a long way, I am learning all the time too, so what I aim to do is pass on what I have learnt and do my best in simplify it and pass it onto you guys. So look out for some more tips coming your way soon.
Would love to hear your comments below on the above tips, and also if you have any great tips too.
