Make money online Easy as 1, 2, 3
(Excerpt From Weekly "Earn While You Learn" Newsletter)
In the last session we discussed How to select and Set-up Your Blog and we also mentioned a few affiliate products and adverting that can be placed on your blog that will make you money. For example, Clickbank affiliate program has tons of digital products. Select a product that complements your marketing niche and offer it to your visitors to purchase. This way they are able to learn more about the topic you are blogging about.
This week is an overview of the last session. I will review three easy steps you can do to optimize your online home-based business.
Step I - Identify a Niche (Target Market)
I said it before and it bears repeating content is King. You have to provide valuable beneficial content something that is useful to your readers and solve their problem. Once you have identified a niche. Put the niche topic in the Keyword Research Tools:
Google Adwords extract data from Google search engine accurate but not current.
Wordtracker extract Yahoo metacrawler not as accurate but current information.
SEO Tool Book metacrawler not as accurate but current information.
You will get a list of niche terms. Put those terms in the keyword research tool and you will get a list of keyword phrases. Identify the Long Tail Keyword (LTK) you are interested in blogging about. The LTK is a phrase with 3 or more keywords. Also take notice of the number of people searching for the LTK monthly. Select a LTK that has at least 300 monthly searches, this should be a lucrative market. Additionally, if the research tool provide this information, note the cost per click (CPC).
Step II - Determine if the Keyword phrase is Competitive
Put the LTK in one of the search engines:
Ensure you can achieve Page Ranking 1 (PR!) if the search result is around 300,000 competing sites you should be able to dominate that LTK. Put quotation marks around your LTK, so you will receive the actual results and not sites using related terms or synonym of the LTK. This means you will have around 300,000 others site owners competing for PR1 for that LTK. If there are sponsored links (paid advertisement) on the page and you have around 300,000 search results you most likely have a good and lucrative LTK.
Step III - Determine the backlinks of the Sites on PR1

-->Backlinks are other sites that place your link on their site because of your excellent content. These links on another site leads back to your site. They usually use anchor text which are descriptive words describing your site. A site with a large number of backlinks implies it is an important site and could be categorized as an authority site. Backlinks are also called incoming links, inbound links, inlinks, and inward links. Another method to use to determine whether you can receive PR1 for that LTK is the number of backlinks the sites on the first page have. If one or more of those sites (PR1) have less than 30 backlinks you should be able to compete for their position. Other things to look for on your competitors' site are the relevance of the content; whether it is an authority site; and Alexa rating, just to name a few. Use this research tool to determine the number of backlinks your site or your competitors' site have.
Some methods you can do to receive backlinks are writing and submitting articles to article submission directories, posting on forums, making comments on blogs with a related topic and do follow. Additionally, another action you can take to get backlinks is put a Google Alert on your LTK. Google will email you with a list of blogs with your LTK and you can make comments on these blogs with your link in the signature area. Ensure your comment add value to the subject matter. This is a sure fire way to get your link on related sites. Make it your goal to post 10 comments a day on related sites and you should see an increase in traffic because you will have a better PR.
Finally, I would like to extend much gratitude to Antionette Tate for taking action and providing me feedback and asking questions. Antionette's feedback, questions, and comments helped me to provide valuable and beneficial information with clarity and simplicity.
Next week we will begin our discussion on how to generate free traffic to your blog.
