I personally get asked this question by my students all the time…

“Jerry…

what’s the different between Page Rank and Link Juice?

I thought they're just two naems for the same thing?”

PageRank

Well, instead of repeating the same exact answer again and again… I thougt to share the answer here so you understand how I differentiate these two critical SEO metrics (of course, only if you're interseted in ranking your web page/blog post on the search engine results pages...)

What is Link Juice -

Link juice measures the number of high quality and relevant links going INTO a web page (let’s call it “A”), and how many relevant and high quality links those links that link to “A” receives and so forth. Google is able to map out and track these linking relationships… which is what makes them… Google. This has appeared to be the most important factor in outranking your competition.

What is Page Rank -

The term Page Rank is Google’s proprietary measurement a web page's "authority." It is DIFFERENT from Link Juice. Imagine one of your web pages having 10,000 relevant back links that have no PR going to the page and rank #1 in Google... and then imagine that same web page with 100 relevant back links that have PR and rank #1 in Google. Different links but same result. PR indicates the “weight” of a link so you decide whether you want 100 links with good PR or 10,000 with lower/no PR.

BOTH Link Juice and Page Rank are important, but keep in mind how they differentiate from one another and more importantly, how they're related.

SO.... where can you get high PR link juices?

Hands down, link building has been THE most time consuming process in SEO for as long as I've been studying and practicing SEO for the last 5 years or so. High PageRank/PR links that pass on potent link juices are even harder to come by… Fortunately, there are tools and services that can help us acquire them.

Reputable and ethical SEO agencies/consultants, for the most part, will NOT disclose their link sources (except to their clients, of course) to protect their trade secrets and their clients’ privacy; however, a good number of options are available out there to score high PR links... and if you perform a quick Google search on “high pr links” you’ll know exactly what I am talking about.

A couple of effective and affordable solutions include -

1) Guest posting / blogging / authoring - Locate other websites and blogs in the space that you’re interested in and offer to write articles/posts to place on their sites in exchange for pointing a link or two back to the page you’d like to receive links from.  You can find blogs to guest blog on at http://myblogguest.com/ and similar sites (do a search on Google).

Most definitely check out the PageRank of the websites/blogs you’ll be posting to… the higher the PageRank and the more relevant the blogs the better.  A simple tool that you can use to verify a website's PR is http://www.prchecker.info/

2) Article distribution / syndication – Create and distribute your article to article directories and drop a link or two back to the page you’d like to receive links from.  Usually you can only insert the links in the "author's resources box" in each article. The most absolutely critical element in effective article syndication, other than finding and posting to high PR directories, is that your content needs to be at least 40% unique AND readable! INVEST some extra time in doing this, if you’re using a spinner software, to construct your article's spin syntax so that in the end the articles actually mean something to the average human being. The bottom line is there is enough cyber garbage out there as is…

A reliable and indispesable tool that I use frequently is Article Marketing Robot. It automatically creates and confirms author accounts, spins and submits articles during the article syndication process and cuts down my time spent by about 97.327% (I'm a geek)! Its built-in article rewriter is VERY solid so take the time to learn it and use it wisely.

Okay... that’s it for today’s tip! Now go get yourself some tasty high PR link juice… and page ONE rankings!
