8 Mistakes Only Newbies Make In The Better Networker Forums
Unless you're living under a rock you already know network marketers have launched their whole careers in our forums. Guys like Ferny Ceballos, who make even the best of us look bad with awesome content and insightful forum posts.
So your posts and replies on The Better Networker Forums could literally make or break your business. And being banned... well that could kill your future here pretty quick.
And while there's literally hundreds of ways you could write a post, there's pretty much only a handful of ways you can annoy people in forums. So I'm gonna get into the nitty gritty here and list a few things that tend to annoy or upset a lot of people. Avoid these mistakes if you're serious about building a reputation here and before long you'll be making friends left and right.
8 Mistakes Only Newbies Make In The Better Networker Forums
• Ugly signature files. Yeah, I know I've mentioned this one before but I think too many people are watching "Pimp My Ride" or something. Please leave the fuzzy dice and tiger-striped pimp hats at home. And no more sparkly unicorns Richard Bravo... that was pretty funny... but are you trying to start a trend or something? ;-)
• Stealing content. Dude, I don't know where people get the idea that stealing content is okay. It doesn't happen a lot on our site but it does happen and it isn't cool. I read close to 50 forum posts and articles a week here and trust me... I can tell when something has been posted before. So can everyone else.
• Free kittens - click here now! Someone needs to put an end to this madness. I'm talking about forum posts with headlines that don't even come close to decribing the content inside. This is called lying to your peers. They feel tricked when they click and it hurts your reputation too.
• Negative headlines. This is kinda along the same lines. Headlines that are negative draw a lot of attention, but more often than not the content inside is the complete opposite of the headline. You'll see a headline that says "Network Marketing is a scam!" Then when you click... they always say, "Man, I was just kidding." Made you look. And that's pretty lame.
• Are those crocodile tears? I wish there was a way to enforce this rule but there isn't. Some people are only in the forums to drive traffic to their sites. And while I see nothing wrong with that... make sure you're sincere when you reply to other people's posts. You can smell blatant self-promotion a mile away. There's no way to hide what you're really thinking when you write... it stains every word.
• Solid walls of text. I don't know what planet some people come from but I'm pretty sure that even on Krypton they don't write with solid blocks of text. If your posts look like sand paper then I'm not rubbing my eyes on them. And you're losing a lot of readers and replies.
• Links are usually a bad idea. Oh, we've probably all been guilty of this one. You think you're helping folks out but sharing a links in a forum post is a major red flag. Even if you're completely sincere. Stop yourself before sharing any links at all until you're absolutely certain you're bringing value to the table. You'll get ostracized pretty fast if all you do is reply with links.
• Step away from the keyboard! Sometimes people really get to you! You wish you could smack them in the back of the head... but before you write a reply... use the ten second rule. Seriously, step away from the keyboard and count. My momma always said, "If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it." and while she never followed that advice... I think it's a pretty good policy for forums.
And the most important point of all...
Read the rules.
I know this sounds kinda obvious, but you don't have the right to post in any forum if you haven't read the rules. The rules for the Better Networker forum are really short and they're right here. There's only four of them and they all make perfect sense. If you're even thinking of posting in the forums without reading the rules... you're in for a world of pain. You might even get banned.
From the bottom of my heart...
Please read the rules if you haven't done so already.

How about Light Saber battles?
after reading this I realized my animated light saber battle wasn't such a good idea - doh! live & learn huh? lmao!
I had checked my profile and
I had checked my profile and some dude put some link to his site to sell some super crap-a-ola with a tone of tasty icing crapaola... hmm and what dida I do? Delete :)
Geeze too bad he just didn't say HI!
Re: Light Saber
Richard,
I Like the Light Saber Battle... Like Minded People, attract you will.
Jason,
Great article, I wish everybody could see this as they where signing up for the Forum...
Lightsabers...
Haha... Yeah. But it was
cool while it lasted.
You're the least of anyone's
worries here Richard... you continue
to inspire other networkers and set
an awesome example... when you aren't
posting sparkly unicorns. Hah
Oh my...
@Rebecca
Don't you hate that? I often
wonder what goes through people's
brains before they post things.
@Marty
I would force them to read every last
one of Ferny Ceballos' posts here and
in the forums. That guy rocks.
OK I fit into the category
I loved Richard's unicorns ! LOL The light sabers were cool too. I thank you for posting this Jason. I came here to get the education that was missing everywhere else. I don't like wasting my time and to read or watch a video that is blatantly pitching their opp or system and not providing real value is a turnoff.
I too hate the big, flashy signature files ! Screams the used car sale approach which is probably exactly the opposite of what they are intending to portray.
Thanks again Jason,
Joyce Penner
Hello Joyce
Yes. I had a good laugh too.
I think we can wave the
sparkly unicorn and light-saber
duel rule for Richard...
I'm not sure where we should
draw the line?
Sparkly unicorns having light
saber duels?
Yeah, that might be a little
too edgy for Better Networker.
Seriously though, you all
contribute so much... and it's
always great.
I'm just worried about the people
who will probably never read this
or the forum rules at all.
Thank you. :-)
May the Force Be With You ...
Sweet - I wasn't sure how people would respond to the Jedi fight. Sometimes the geek in me simply cannot be contained - lol!
8 mistakes
To the point Jason. Yes I do concur that these topics that you have mentioned are indeed insipid if not criminal in some cases. One peeve taht I have always abhorred is profanity. For whatever reason, foul language just boils my blood. Thank you kind sir for maintaining business integrity on your site. And I dearly appreciate the information and training that I am attaining here. Keep up the good work.

Hello, your rules of posting comments are really tough. I know you want to prevent spam, but what if the link is indeed related to the topic, which made me much interested?? Like topics related to this type of engines I am sure this topic is often discussed on this website.
