Around 2 years ago, Mike Dillard - renown marketer and creator of this wonderful website that many of us consider "Home" when it comes to networking with other leaders in our Industry - took an action that I didn't fully understand at the moment:

He basically stopped following THOUSANDS of so-called "gurus" and "internet network marketers" who's whole purpose to use Twitter was (or is if they're still business which is VERY doubtful) to pitch their opportunity and miracle products.

BUT as I said: I didn't understand why he did that back then.

To be honest with you, I thought that it was a "guru trick" to look like the coolest one around...But I was wrong.

Deadly wrong.

You see, I've been using Twitter for around 2 years now and in that time, I've managed myself to get 1,300+ followers and at some point I was pretty excited about it...But not that much anymore. (Recently, I even added a warning signal where I tell my followers to stop following me if they only want me to follow them back)

My mind just changed about it...I now "get" that the sexiest Social Media platforms like Twitter, Facebook and  YouTube, are some very POWERFUL tools for us online marketers only if we fully understand the psychology of the people who are about to engage us there. (the marketing term for that is: our audience)

There's no point in getting 1,000,000 followers on Twitter IF none of them are actually listening to what we have to say.

It always comes down to the basic principle of building relationships based on likeness and trust FIRST and then see if we can do business together...

It's amazing what happens when you're really in control of yourself and your business...You start understanding things that you didn't understand before.

Among those, I would certainly highlight the fact that: this is a people's business. If you deeply understand how people think and make decisions, you'll accomplish your goals in no time.

Remember: Relationships FIRST.

It's not that hard. It's human.

Wake up!
