Social Media VS. Pay Per Click – Round 2?
Some years ago a friend told me about a new exciting site where you could exchange pictures, audios and videos with your friends. At the time, I didn’t care too much about it since it wasn’t available for people outside US colleges. Yeah...I’m talking about Facebook. Let me tell you that it’s amazing how things have changed since then.
The Social Media world is incredibly huge now. According to experts, Facebook alone has 300M+ users around the world. So about 1 of every 5 people with Internet access has a Facebook account. So, you can stay in touch with your high school classmates or talk with a friend in another country in seconds. Now, that’s using such platform for one purpose. Do you imagine the power it has to do Business?
With such a big audience, Facebook is certainly a very attractive platform to do Business along the whole world. Just try to imagine how many problems and necessities 300 Million people can have....you get the point? By knowing how to attract people interested in your Business you’ll see very good results in no time...for....FREE.
On the other side, the Pay Per Click method has been on the news for years now. The TOP Internet Marketers claim that is the best way to attract customers day per day. Is that true? In my personal opinion, it is true. If you know what you are doing, one single ad can be a very BIG source of leads for your Business.
I’ve read somewhere that Google process almost 17 Billion search requests per month from 200 Million different people. Can you imagine that? I just can’t. That’s about 80 searches per person per month. With those numbers in mind, the power of Google is really BIG when it comes to promote your Business.
So, in that case....Who wins between these two? Well...BOTH. The sales process behind the two are completely different. On one side, the Social Media attracts customers by knowing more about the person behind the Business Opportunity (Yeah, YOU). And on the other side, Pay Per Click is based on the fact that you present your ad related to the kind of search the person is doing. If that person finds it attractive based on the benefits it could give her/him, that person goes into your sales funnel.
Bottom line? Do yourself a BIG favor and go learn more about Social Media and Pay Per click. Information is power as long as it is used in a productive way. In my personal opinion, Social Media and Pay Per Click marketing are not going anywhere. Some years from now, your grandchildren will hear about your Google/Facebook stories...

I (mostly) agree, but...
I agree that social media and paid ads as basic tools will be here for our grandchildren, but there are likely to be new players as technology changes and offers more options. The federal government has started hassling Google and Facebook still hasn't figured out a really workable monetization model. Twitter didn't exist 5 years ago.
It's important to understand the function of any tool in your business, then to optimize that tool. So, yes, master both social media and paid advertising but understand that the platforms are in flux and can change quickly. Always keep your eyes open to what's coming next.
Yeah
Thanx for your comments Melissa.
One characteristic in today's world is how fast everything is changing.
So yes, I totally agree with you that we need an open mind to accept changes and make the necessary updates to our businesses.
What I meant about our grandchildren is that they will hear our stories of Google and Facebook...chances are they will have more advanced technologies to promote their businesses.
As an example, I remember when I got my Nintendo 20 years ago...MY grandpa was shocked! Nowadays, XBOX 360 or Playstation 3 beats Nintendo in graphics and role playing.
