7 Surefire Best Practices For Businesses On Twitter

You have started your online business and have been putting lots of time and energy into creating great content and valuable products for your visitors. The problem that you are currently facing is finding ways to brand and market your newly formed online business.
You take a look at the business plan that you had setup at the beginning of your business endeavors, and you come to the part that focuses on leveraging social media. You might ask yourself what best practices you can use on Twitter. I decided to make up a list of best practices I try and use on Twitter.

Build Relationships
This is the most important practice to start doing right away. You should think about how you would react to meeting somebody for the first time that try’s to sell you something. It doesn’t fly to well with anybody. You won’t be effective on Twitter if you don’t try and build relationships with people.

Include Information In Your Bio/Custom Page
This one is a no brainer, right? Whether you want to believe me or not, I do get people that have not put anything into their profile page. This is one way that you will be able to funnel people from Twitter to your business site. When you create a custom page for your profile, include pictures and links to those people. A custom page will give you a higher conversion of followers. Try and set one up through someone like Tweetpages.com. You can download one for as little as $.99.

Do A Daily Research Of Comments About Your Company, Brand and Products
This one is really easy to do. You can do a search about your company or even related words. This will pull up all the people talking about you. Make sure you save the search for easy access later on. The other way is to use the @username to find what is being said about your business. I suggest you use both methods to make sure every topic is covered.

Respond To Questions Or Comments Addressed To You And Your Business
This could be considered part of the last practice mentioned. It is important to respond to those people who are interested in you. It is a way of being social and keeping your business in good standing with the community. People like it when they are noticed. You might even generate a sale from a question someone has. You never know what might happen. It could even be something bad said about the company or you. You don’t want anything bad to spread on a social site like Twitter. It could cripple your business dramatically. Get those questions and comments addressed immediately

Post Links To Things You Find Interesting
This can be very useful in gaining followers. Remember that you don’t have to just post things happening with your business. You can give links to content that relates to your company. You can post links to things you found cool. This could include a video, an article, a website, etc. I will let you use your imagination with this one. There are many websites that offer ways to retweet their content. People will notice that you are an active contributor to the community and will follow what you are doing.

Post pictures, videos, and podcasts
People love to get information in others ways besides articles. I get tired of reading stuff and like to have a change. Some of the top sites on the internet today are in the form of distributing video, podcasts, and pictures. If you are not currently using any of these methods to distribute your content on the internet, you are missing out on leads, branding, and traffic.

Use Coupon Codes
Everyone likes to get discounts on things they are looking to buy. That is why so many coupon sites are so popular. This will get traffic and branding to your site fast. It is just another way to let people know about you.

This list will help you start your Twitter account or make it better. You can always take away or add to this list.

Great Tips!

Excellent article Josh :)
it always surprises me so much when people leave their bio blank. Why not use that space and tell everyone a little bit about yourself. I think leaving that blank is a surefire way to have people ignore your page.
