Happiness is that elusive something that all of us is looking for continually...
If properly understood it is the key to marketing...a new concept for a lot of us.
So...what is happiness? Simply put it is the mental feeling of feeling good.
Going to McDonalds and satisfying the desires of a Mac attack makes millions happy every day and fills the coffers of McDonalds Inc.
Going to a good movie with that special person produces that mental feel good.
Being out in the great outdoors hiking in nature for a lot of people makes the "feel good" or brings happiness.
Just looking at a brand new bright and shiny sports car can do it.
The examples are innumerable because we are all seeking happiness.
That is the principle that I am bringing out here...People Do Things To Make Themselves Feel Happy.
Everything that we do is for the purpose of bringing about happiness.
I have a friend Tim who sells Mercedes Benz automobiles...he uses the principle of ... people are seeking happiness ...to help a person select the Merceedes of his choice. He is expert at it...he doesn't have to twist the customers arm at all to buy this model or that...he just goes with the flow of what make the person happy.
Tim is intelligent and knows what questions to ask and listens carefully and determines what makes this person happy.
Is this person a go fast type that feels happy cruising down the road at 130 mph...where he can get away with it ...Tim guides him to a roadster.
Is she is the type person that goes for status and wants to look good in the car..to make her happy Tim guides her to a sleek sedan.
So we are all seeking happiness either consciously or unconsciously and the marketer needs to know what turns on his prospect so he can then help him.
How much money would make him happy...what kinds of things that the money would provide would make him happy...what things could he do would make him happy?
And then we have to realize that we all only have so much time, energy, knowledge and so we must use those resources wisely to make choices. Choices that will make us happy.
So because of limited resources and the fact that we have to choose leads us to values...
We all have different value systems that help us use our limited time , knowledge, and energy to choose wisely to guide our actions to give us happiness.
This part of human nature when understood will make our marketing days much easier.

You hit a good point with Tim. He listens to his clients to see what makes them happy. As should a marketer listen to a prospect to know what makes them "Tick". In the end we all just want to be happy. Thanks Dr. Phil

People always want to know the WIIFM. Whats in it For Me!! They want what makes them happy and by knowing what they want and showing them a way to achieve that goal/happiness we will in return be awarded with Success on many levels.

Our Goal Is Happiness
What more can be said, we do what we do in life looking for happiness. Each and everyone of us just wants to be happy in our own way. For me making others happy makes me happy & the income I earn from doing it is an added bonus. To whom much is given; much is required so mentoring someone and helping them achieve their goals is what is required of me and anyone within this industry who makes a substantial income from it. When you help others prosper you prosper as well.

What Is Most Important To YOU?
When we listen to people, really listen..... they will tell you what means the most to them. I try to imagine that every person has a sign on their forehead that says "Make me feel happy today!" We need to shine our light for ALL to see! When we walk in joy and love it is truly is contagious!

Happiness and Values
You will know you are 'growing up' when these two ideas are no longer 'at odds' with each other in our lives (as they sometimes are when we are young). In my experience, it is the melding of our values into our everyday lives that brings us true happiness.
