Facebook Marketing Tips, a serial biz op link poster, a rant and some etiquette this morning!
Okay so today it is a bit of a rant, for no other reason than I just see it happening all the time and as I was having my cup of tea this morning, I had another one!
You know what I mean – you have just become “friends” with a new person on facebook who would seem to have the same sort of interests as you and may also be an online network marketer (of sorts).
Before you have even had a chance to introduce yourself, you find yourself in receipt of a link sent to you telling you how good their business opportunity is, getting in on the “ground floor”, top compensation plan that pays out for doing absolutely nothing ……yada, yada, yada…….
You know the type!!
So what do you do and how do you respond ? Here’s a couple of facebook marketing tips.
Well when I first started out I took time to learn facebook marketing tips and so these sorts of people used to really irritate me and I would just hit the unfriend button (don’t you just love that button?), and zap they were gone from my cozy little world to continue with their uneducated harassment of people by posting their links on to someone else’s profile!
But it was only when I listened to one of the awesome webinars inside of MLSP from Jessica Perretti (now Jessica Higdon – wife of one of the top earners in the MLM industry Ray Higdon!) that I realised that I was missing a trick as she used to love it when this happened to her.
So I adopted Jessica’s method about 6 months ago and it really works well if you just change your attitude to these people slightly! – After all, I am in the business of helping people – aren’t you? Of course it works even better if you are inside of a super marketing system like MLSP too as you have something to immediately refer them to that will help.
Facebook Marketing Tips | What to Say
Here’s what Jessica suggested you do once you are in receipt of a business opportunity link when no relationship has been built at all, and this is what I now teach my team to do too….because it works!
The “conversation” usually goes something like this:
You (after receiving a link that was NOT requested)
“Thank you, that looks great and I wish you all the best with it! Besides Facebook – what other marketing strategies are you using to generate leads?”
Them (quite a popular response)
“Well I just got started and my upline told me to do this” OR "Well just this at the moment!"
“Okay well, can I coach you on some facebook marketing tips that you could use to tweak your marketing that may just get you some better results?”
“Facebook is a great place to start, but I’d really recommend building the relationships first and also learning a few other strategies to help you generate more leads than Facebook alone can give you. I can totally recommend MLSP (or whatever your system is or whatever is working for you) for marketing training and lead generation – let me know if you would like to check it out?”
Only send them a link if they ask for it.
Depending on how the conversation goes, I may also refer them to the best e-book ever written on the subject of sponsoring techniques “Magnetic Sponsoring”
I have actually sponsored people into my marketing system and made sales through using this technique and yet if I had just clicked the unfriend button, then I would have missed out completely.
Of course the reaction you get may not be as favourable which is exactly what happened to me the other morning when the person concerned was adamant that her method of “marketing” was working for her and she was going to continue to do it regardless.
Sadly the people who are not prepared to educate themselves further, will only attract people like themselves.
Of course in this situation, the “unfriend button” is pretty cool! – Next………!!
I had a similar episode just this morning when a girl called me to discuss working with me. It transpired that she was not interested in working with me, she was only interested in telling me how good her business was and why I should join her in a company that had been responsible for her losing 6 inches from her waistline!
She had not even bothered to find out anything about me before calling, and then failed to ask me anything about what I wanted or what I was already doing. She will almost certainly never attract leaders to her business this way.
