Internet Business Training Programs and Your Personality

There are many factors to choosing the right Internet Business Training Program for your needs. In this article I want to take it to a more personal level. With the plethora of choices out there, it is easy to be swayed by the sales pitches and the marketing. But if that is what you look at to make your decisions, you may end up with a training program that does not resonate with who you are and how you think. I believe this is why people often end up investing a lot of money in multiple programs all designed to teach the same or similar skill sets.

Begin by stepping away from the computer and spending some time thinking about yourself. How do you process information? Are you more of a visual learning, an auditory learner or even a kinesthetic one? Do you enjoy reading on the internet or would prefer a real book? Do you do well absorbing information from a video or do you prefer print? Do you like to be taught step-by-step or would you prefer an entire overview that you then decifer on your own?

Are you comfortable learning in a group or do you prefer your privacy. Some people learn best by doing, rather than by being taught. These people like to be given the overarching concept and then figure out themselves through trial and error. The opposite are those who want every single detail spelled out for them. How about you? Where do you fall on that spectrum?

Are All These Questions Really That Important?

Once you have a good understanding of how you like to learn and how you learn best, now you can look at the internet business training programs. Again, you will need to do some research and some thinking. It is easiest to get a feel for those programs that offer free materials.

Some of these come in the form of videos, some in print. Take advantage of anything that you can access for no charge and spend a decent amount of time reviewing it. Be honest with yourself. Did you like the presenter's style, voice, ideas? Or was it easy to read and presented in a manner that you could grasp? You get the idea.

You may need to try a number of these training programs in their introductory forms before you decide on the one you would like to purchase. In order to get the most out of your time and your money. Allow yourself the opportunity to do this. The beauty of researching on the internet is that there is much that you can learn and explore for no cost. I'd suggest setting up a separate email account for any pages that you " opt-in". That way you know that all your training information is contained in one area, as you begin to receive information from the different resources. Allocate some day each day to read through the material that you are receiving. Some my intrigue you and others may bore. Don't be afraid of "opting- out" of those which do not interest you or resonate with you.

Also, become a subscriber to an assortment of online marketing newsletters and blogs. This is another way to expose yourself to a wide variety of material and resources prior to making a financial commitment in any one area.

In Summary

There are so many options to choose from as you proceed on your internet marketing education journey. One program might give you all that you need. For others, it becomes an assortment of programs from which you pull that which most addresses your needs and your personality. No matter what anyone else says, or what works best for your friends and colleagues, you need to find the system/program that is truly best for you. This may change as you become more experienced in the field, so allow yourself to make a choose for now and keep other programs on the back burner for later.

Testing theTraining Program ...

To see if it Works for You is a very good suggestion.

There are very good copywriters among us who do a great job promoting their programs. All of which may be excellent, but as you point out, may not be a good fit.

A quality training center should offer a fr.ee introductory course with examples of the training materials. This allows the student to determine if their learning style is met before committing to a subscription fee.

Choosing a trainer that will take you to the completion of a learning curve is key to success in Internet marketing.

It's not for everybody

Hi Deborah,

It is so true, working for oneself is not something everyone wants. I really appreciate how you say, "step away" and think about it. Starting work for yourself is not a decision that should be jumped into. It should take careful consideration of all the many different aspects.

Discovering if you learn by reading, listening, audio or all of the above, is also of great importance. Everyone has different methods that work best for them. Finding yours is very important to your business success, as you will need to learn new skills as time goes by. Being in business is a constant growing process.

Thank you Deborah.

Know your learning style

I think this is a very important topic. There are many different styles of trainings out there and you need to find what works for you...just like choosing a job (in the past when we could choose), or a car, or anything that we use as a tool.
I know people that prefer to read rather than use video. I know people that can only follow video trainings. Success can be a whole lot easier if you figure out what works best for you.

Deciding What Fits For You

Knowing what you want to learn and how you want to learn it is vital. This will keep you focused and stop you from bouncing all over the net like a moth attracted to different light bulbs.
At least that's how I felt once until I found out what I really wanted and how I wanted to go about reaching my goals.
So yes, as Deborah says, take the time to reflect about what you want because after all, it all starts and ends with you.

A Plan you can Stick With

Very important information. There are just so many plans and offers that it really does become quite confusing to anyone wanting to build a business online.

Deborah, you nailed it by focusing on the need for people to address their unique learning styles. This is so important.

If you are not happy with the plan of choice then your level of success is also greatly lowered. Take the time and do the research as Deborah has stated.

The Plain Truth

Wonderful information given, especially the take a step back. You have to be quite honest with yourself in this endeavor, and truly know your strengths/weaknesses. Thanks for the information.

Knowing Ourself...

Like many people I looked at a lot of training programs and wasted money, before I realized I learn faster with a step by step visual training program like Renegade Pro. I wish you had posted this article in Feb 2008.

Thanks.

The Right Training Program.

Deborah,

Excellent article. What you are telling us should not be underestimated. Getting the proper internet business training is the key to having success in this industry.

If we subscribe to a training program that doesn't match our personality, we will get stuck and lose interest. We will end up losing time and money without getting much accomplished.

On the other hand, if the training program fits our personality, we have a much better chance of learning and succeeding.

Thanks for the reminder, Deborah.

What's Best

Deborah,

Your illustration of Personality/Training is right on target when it comes to deciding what's best. Knowing yourself is the key element to understanding how to maximize the training for you.

Appreciate All The Comments

In my experience, things start to flow for people once they hook into a training program that resonates with their personality! Taking the time to understand this is also the first step towards developing your personal brand, which is the essence of marketing in today's intensely competetive marketing world.

Different Learning Styles

Deborah,
You are so right. Everyone is unique in the way they process information. There is no one-size-fits-all training just like there are no two people exactly alike. It's so great that today we have webinars, teleseminars, articles, ebooks and live interactive training as well. With so many methods to learn the skills for our businesses, we can pretty much have a training program made to order. Then, we can make our individual personalities shine.
