Part 4 - How to Write a Blog that ROBS ` Twitter's (!!) Traffic `

Read More: Social Networking

hullo -- it's your uncle Pop Pop here.

Heard it on the grapevine that you guys reckon Twitter's dead.

Twiter, your money or your traffic. cool image of twitter bird in a bullet hole.

Well, that's total rubbish.

I looked this up the other day, and found out the exact number of people getting on Twitter every month is around 620 MILLION.

You'd be a shoddy excuse for a marketer if that many people didn't make you froth at the mouth. i wager my right eye, your grubby paws would be all over the traffic. first chance you get, you cheeky charlie.

Look at me,

i rob Twitter blind every day, since i found out how.

Problem is for all those people trying to get the word out about their blog with twitter...Most people write a blog. then they push a button to Tweet about it and then they're sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting for traffic. They can hatch an egg from how long they'll be waiting! haha.

Don't do that. It's stupid.

Even if you got all the followers in the world, they're not gonna answer. And, besides, if that junk worked, you wouldn't be here listening to Uncle Pop Pop, would ya?

No.

You ever ask yourself why Twitter, they used to say it works like gangbusters...then after a few months they said it's dead?

What happened?

Did people stop using twitter?

no. like i said, there's 620 million people every month on there.

Did the marketers wreck Twitter?

Nahhh. It just got noisy mate. And no one knows how to get attention. Except your Uncle Pop Pop ;).

But more importantly,

YOU stopped paying attention!

Right? We hardly ever look at anyone else's tweets...why would my followers or your followers be any different?

Couple of months back, i forgot and got out of my car with my iPhone still in my lap. if you got one of those -- it's crazy, if it hits the ground on a certain angle, the screen cracks into a million pieces. and the phone is binned mate.

Was bummed.

real bummed. so I announced it on twitter:

"my iphone screen broke :("

Next day, i'm on Tweetdeck. Ya know, i got one of those "real friends" columns with just 10 of the thousands of people i "follow". I look at where it says "reply column" and there's this message:

"@uncle_pop_pop iphone screen repair http://xyz/... click here"

What do you think i did?

That's right, mate. I clicked. And i bought their screen repair kit for $80 plus shipping and handling. I found out later, that Apple does the repair themselves for just a little extra. But never mind.

Point is, i read that tweet, because it had my name.

People's name is the most important word in any language.

Did you know...some dorky buddy of mine told me this little nugget of boringness.... they say, there's a high level of noise that you can hear in your sleep but you won't wake up from.

Notice, how like, when you're sleeping and the tele's on or people talking around ya, you sleep through the noise. Right?

But get this, if someone says your name...and they say it real quiet, just loud enough that you can hear it...it's a SCIENTIFIC FACT, that you'll wake up - right away!

It's the same thing on Twitter.

There's lots of noise, and people are immune to it. They don't pay attention.

But say their name...and they're all ears!

So i got on the phone and called a buddy of mine who's good with computers.

"ay Jim," i said. "Can you make us a program that sends PERSONAL tweets about my blog...to a list of names i give it?"

Turns out, he has a program. Scans everyone on twitter. And it finds people who are complaining or discussing, right now, things that my blog can help with...

i just tell the computer what to say to those people and it sends that for me like i just sent them a personal tweet! it's bloody awesome and it does everything automatic and keeps stealing traffic from Twitter to my posts forever!

So here's how to write a blog that ROBS TWITS (or whatever you call them), from twitter.

(insert: the following instructions have been summarised with visual examples at the end of the post)

Step 1.

Write a blog.

Make sure your blog has a command or directive at the end to get people to join your newsletter or buy stuff from you. otherwise you won't get any money.

Step 2.

put a twitter share icon on your blog, like the Tweetmeme plugin for Wordpress blogs (you can get it here -
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/tweetmeme/ ) this is very important.

Step 3.

use http://search.twitter.com/ and scan for phrases and words that people say if they're in your target audience.

for example, if your post is about "how to raise a goldfish in a bowl", you search for tweets that say "my gold fish" or "pet goldfish" or "my goldfish tried to commit suicide today".

makes sense. people who have a pet or goldfish, they like to talk about it with their friends. they like to show pics of their fish doing cute things and what not.

Most important, just be creative finding more and more people.

Step 4.

send @name tweets with a personal message recommending your post. the more conversational the message, the better it works. don't try any ad tricks here. if you don't screw it up, those people will click your link and take a look at your blog.

Step 5.

Now the people who click, since they came from twitter, if they like your blog, they'll share posts with their twitter list and get you MORE exposure!

Of course, it's dead boring if you have to search and message everyone all by hand--so my buddy Jim said he'd share the automatic program with readers of the famous `Google Switch`, their free Traffic Blueprint with loads more cool tricks just like this. It's ace, get it. & keep an eye on your email.

(or get it, read one chapter, forget to put it to use. Either way.)

It's Like Twitter PPC

Crazy stuff. It could possibly be a new starter method for new marketers who can't afford google yet, and a cool new traffic method for the experienced guys as well.

Thanks for the great advice Jim

The money is not in the list the money is in the relationship

you have with that list. Wefollow ranked me as #2 most influential person on Twitter in network marketing. I wondered how could rthat be when I have less than 10,000 followers. When I saw other people with 50,000 or more.

I also found out I was making more money from Twitter than the people who had 50,000 followers.

The key is what you said in your article most people would just last out their messages. I would engage people in person 1 on 1 conversations.

Build up enough relationship with them and close the deal. I do the same thing on Facebook. I close at least 1 deal per day.

If you would like to see how I do it visit http://prostarprofits.com/html/mlmtip

Uncle POP POP thanks for the great content.

Re: comments un-expressed

Here's why this article had yet to get a bigger influx of commments - this article solicits the attention of those attempting/actively marketing on TWITTER.

Because of this, it becomes a socially-perpetuating shared message that is, and usually STAYS market-specific... in other words, people ESPECIALLY on Twitter like it.

And they share. (reference the amount of tweets.)

The issue... (and "comment-robbing" culprit) - Is those finding the message virally ARENT ABLE to comment because they aren't members of BetterNetworker.com!

...Ironically, the message was received well enough that some people actually took the time to "sign-up" to betternetworker JUST to leave a comment..

When you can inspire the actions of others, especially when "blocks" stand in their way... then you have executed and distributed your marketing message successfully...

...but sometimes your intended plan can switch tracks, for not necessarily a better/same outcome, but still a desired one :-)

An Interesting Twist

Jim,

The whole name thing is brilliant. What a great eye catcher to somebody scanning 200 twits about going for coffee, shuttling the kids, ... wait! there is my name! I wonder which one they are going to actually read?

Did I say brilliant?
