I've been successfully marketing my mobile notary public business with SquidZipper "lenses" (web pages) available free on the social networking site, Squidoo. SquidZipper is a zip-code based platform originally designed to support professionals in the real estate industry.

If someone Googles "notary" and my home base location, my SquidZipper site comes up on the first page. The leads I get are highly targeted and, unlike notary directories, they don't cost a dime. In fact, I've created more than 20 SquidZipper sites (all interlinked) covering multiple zip codes in my area.

Just a heads up for network marketers: Squidoo has a general disdain for MLM, so you won't want to use this technique to promote your business outright. Of course, there are several work arounds, such as promoting products or the marketing side of your business. Fresh, original content is welcomed and often rewarded.

While there are currently several MLM companies being promoted on Squidoo, they are likely to disappear as complaints and spam reports are lodged by viewers.
